Which engine is it? 2.0;2.2;2.3;2.4;3.1? There are different procedures for these engines. Rick

a 2.0. you first of course disconnect the battery, raise the car & disconnect wire loom strap from starter bolt (the upper one). detatch selector and the shift cables from selector lever , Then... remove both the upper and lower transaxle control cables, brackets & remove cables, then the drive axle brace. Then unhook your electrical cables from starter assy - remember where they go... Now you can remove the starter bolts... anyway, that's what my book shows. Glad that I get to work on something easier today. Rick

the word is CRANK does the engine crank fast?
no cranks. (if it cant crank it cant start, unless like my M/T pushed or gravity started)
1: check fuses first.
2: jumper cable crank it. that work>?
if not say so.
yes, then your battery was dead for 3 reasons. ask.
no, then the starter need to be hot wired and tested. for bad key line.
will it crank in A/T neutral , not using PARK
as the operators guide shows?

Starter and startic is working but the engine wont crank

if the starter spins fast, and cranks shaft is dead.
the starter is bad, or more exactly the pinion drive is dead.
but that is 99% the solenoid (starter bad)
replace or clean the solenoid drive,
make sure the pinion slides easy. there.

I just tried starting my 1986 Porsche 944 its been sitting in storeage for 3 years and havent started it since, and now i bled the gas line to get rid of old gas and drained the tank and put more gas in...

its the fuel pump relay, take the petrol in hose off (just over the air inlet manifold) and start it up, if fuel comes out then its not the fuel pump or relay, when you say starter fluid what do u mean?

97 exel sprint 1% of time wont start cranks fast but wont fire leave few mins & it starts runs fine

check your fuel pump you may not be getting fuel to the engine fast enough check your carberator or fuel injectors also which ever you have as these may be the reason for a lack of fuel. In particular if it is fuel injectors you may need to clean them out to get rid of a clog hence a slow fuel delivery

Wont start

the starter might need to be shimmed. i'm not sure what the starter sounded like when you tried it, but if it sounds like it is grinding, you may need to purchase a shim from the parts store.
i also don't know how long you tried to crank the starter, but it may just be overheating. (they do get ho quickly) if you burn out the solenoid, you are out of luck.
i would take the starter off the motor and have it tested at the autopart store. (some junkyards will do it too, i've had more honest answers from the local junkyard than a few part stores).

Car wont start, it just makes a clicking almost grinding sound. 2004 suzuki forenza. We tried to replace spark plugs but cant figure out where they are in this car.

If the starter is not even turning the engine over, then it probably a starter/solenoid issue. If the spark plugs were bad, the car would still turn over but not start (or would run poorly).

Recommend removing your starter and taking it to (almost) any auto parts store to have it tested for free.

Engien wont start!?!

You might need a new starter or a new alternator. Get it checked at a shop to make sure you find the right thing that you need to change.
