Question about 2008 Hyundai Elantra

1 Answer

My 2008 Hyundai Elantra doesn't always start right up. Will always crank over but sometimes have to wait 5 or 10 minutes before it will fire up. I have had the recall for the fuel pump performed. Any ideas?

Chances are the recall was not performed correctly and when was reassembled the tech accidently cut a hose when installing into take or forgot a o-ring on the pump itself

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Thats definatly a crankshaft positioning sensor the reason why it dies after 20 minutes is heat expand and cold retracts kinda the same with the senor as it heats up it loses contact it is located back side of the head on the upper right about an inch below the valve cover

I have exactly the same problem. Don't know where to begin. since it runs so well once it starts, I assume the fuel injectors are ok. Seems like some sensor used at startup may be the problem, or a bad/old rubber vacuum hose ... could be anything.

Interesting problem.. since not US spec. Is there a 'remote keyless (fob)' programmed for this vehicle? That's the only way to DE-arm the immobilizer (anti-theft) feature (based on US specs). Unless you have this key fob (keyless entry remote... which must also be programmed for this vehicle), the only other way is wait 5 minutes with the existing key in the ignition, then it should start (US specs). You will still need to have an 'ACTIVE' keyless remote programmed for this vehicle... otherwise, you'll continue to run into this problem.

Location of oil filter on a 2008 hyundai elantra

It is located under the alternator. If you are looking down at the engine, it is to the far left. If you are under the car it is to the far right before the oil pan.
