O2 sensor Have a 97 avenger with 2.5 V6, has check engine light on, code showed it had bad o2 sensor. I replaced all three sensors and it still shows o2 sensor error. The other problem is that my avenger has 3 o2 sensors and no one or no manual shows the 3 sensors.

My avenger starts now, but when its starts a small amount of coolant leaks behind my right front tire. But recently the is also a few drops of oil or other dark greasy liquid... Im trying to figure out how the two leaks go together? and if its only my water pump or something worse?

Are you sure that it is still the O2 censor? are you assuming because the check engine light is still on? because you have to reset it after fixing something you just disconnect your battery completely for a bit like 15mins and then reconnect it and the light should go away.

Where is the O2sensor bank 1 at with a code of P0420. AND do I need to replace both sensors upstream and down. Or just the one that is showing up on the obd scanner.

Bank one is front side of cat. It should also tell u if it's cat 1 or cat 2. Depending on make an modle an yr. Catalyst 1 bank 2 is left cat back sensor. Catalyst 2 bank 2 is right cat back sensor. U do not have to replace upstream also. My o2 sensor Catalyst 2 bank 2 went bad. Had engine code for burning rich bank 2. Replaced tha down stream sensor an fixed problem runs better an better gas. This was in 97 gmc suburban. Idk what vehicle ur askin about. An I'm not to familiar with much about cars jus trucks an suvs.

Where is the 02 Oxygen Sensor before the cadalic converter on a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe

Usually these are located on the exhaust manifold or just below the exhaust manifold and you should be able to see it in the engine bay. On V6 engines there will be one sensor on each of the 2 exhaust banks.
You will probably need to remove the engine cover to see the sensors on your exhaust.

If someone told you to replace these because you got a particular fault code I would be wary. A decent scan tool and basic diagnostics can show if the 02 sensor is working or not. Some faults often blamed on an 02 sensor are not due to faulty sensors.

Service engine soon light is on showed p0160 replaced an checked for bad wiring to the mas air sensor still rough idle in gear n now want to shake when it shifts into overdrive it shakes

MOST LIKELY A BAD O2 SENSOR...Potential causes of an P0160 code include: Holes in exhaust near post cat o2 sensor Bad Bank 2, position 2, o2 sensor Wiring problem, melted harness, broken connectors, etc. Bad PCM

What are codes P0133 & P1134, for a 2005 Buick Lacrosse 3.8L V6 with 94,000 miles.

i have replaced an O2 sensor and had similar failure after 1500 miles.
I removed it, chkd it, reinstalled it and it ran fine.
P0133 is related to slow response of O2 sensor. P1134 is mfg specific so google that for ur car.

Engine code 28

Are you sure it is a code 28? I only ask because my book doesn't show a code 28 in regards to this problem. I show codes 25 and 26 that may relate to this problem. But before replacing o2 sensor, there are other probabilities for this code showing up. They would be: Injector or injector circuit, Coolant temp sensor or circuit, Air temp. sensor or circuit, Airflow meter, Cold start injector, ECM (Electronic Control Module- THE BRAIN) Or the o2 sensor of course. Plz save your money before purchasing o2 sensor and check possible related items first. You may find o2 sensor is not at fault. Hope this helps.

Hi-Failed inspection at Motor Vehicle Code PO160 (2001 Nissan Maxima). Car runs fine- no dash lights on. Left Rear Oxygen Sensor? Cost to fix or rigg it? Must get this car passed. Thanks in advance,...

CausesPotential causes of an P0160 code include:
  • Holes in exhaust near post cat o2 sensor
  • Bad Bank 2, position 2, o2 sensor
  • Wiring problem, melted harness, broken connectors, etc.
  • Bad PCM
Possible SolutionsIt's always best to do a visual inspection of the exhaust system first. Look for holes near o2 sensors or wiring harnesses coming in contact with exhaust components. Repair as necessary.
1. Start the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. Using a scan tool, observe the Bank 2 position 2 o2 sensor. If it isn't moving at all this doesn't necessarily mean that anythings wrong. Post cat o2 sensors often switch very little. Increase the engine RPM to a fast idle and then recheck the sensor voltage reading. If it starts switching now, the sensor may be sluggish and/or intermittently going "dormant". Replacing the sensor at this point would be a good idea. Visually check the o2 sensor for contaminates, etc. If you suspect it's contaminated with coolant or oil, replace it. But, if it still isn't responding after increasing engine RPM, turn off the engine and unplug the 2/2 o2 sensor. With KOEO (key on engine off) check that there is 12 Volts battery voltage and a good ground to the o2 sensor heater element. If the heater element has no battery voltage it can cause the o2 sensor to be sluggish and not switch properly which can cause a P0160.
So, diagnose that problem first(there will usually be other codes present). If there is power and ground to the heater element check that the sensor ground is present. If it is, connect a jumper wire between the sensor ground and signal wire. Now the 2/2 o2 sensor reading should be low. If so, replace the Bank 2 position 2 o2 sensor. If, after connecting the jumper wire, the o2 sensor reading still remains "stuck", check for wiring problems, harness contacting exhaust components, or broken connectors. Repair as necessary. Then recheck. If you can find no wiring problems and the o2 sensor reading on the scan tool doesn't change after installing the jumper wire, recheck at the PCM connector. It may be necessary to clip the signal wire near the PCM in a location that will be easy to repair. If it now shows a low voltage reading, then you know beyond a doubt that there is a wiring problem. At this point clipping the offending wire out of the harness and running a new one may be your best bet. But If it still shows no change, the PCM may be at fault.

I have a 1997 Dodge Avenger with a O2 sensor code, it is a 2.5 V6, I looked and it has three O2 sensors, which one do I replace?

first of all you need to have your cpu read with an OBD reader then it will pin point the excact O2 sensor usually autozone or kragens will read it for free i know that pepboys reads it for free just have to make sure they have the time to do it

1999 ford ranger 4x4 4.0L motor is skipping replaced camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, new coil pack, new plugs, wires, and replaced mass air flow sensor, now its still skipping and codes pulled are showing...

P1151 means a lean bank 2 O2 sensor
P1152 Means a rich bank 2 O2 sensor
P1309 Means miss fire detected
I would check your fuel injector for fouling
When they foul the will develop a drip
Causing a fuel fluctuation that will have O2 sensors reporting rich and lean voltage changes
This causes the pcm to adjust injector pulses making them shorter and longer.
causing more fuel or less fuel.
From this condition you may see plug fouling.
Also check for leaking or faulty fuel pressure regulator or restricted return line.
Most of the time it wont be a bad O2 sensor the O2 sensor is just doing its job.
You also have already changed the plugs and Map so there already out of the way.
If this helps please give me some feed back
Hope this works for you FixYa

Bad o2 sensor at back

LIKE I TELL MY CUSTOMERS...FOR STARTERS YOU NEED BRAKES BECAUSE IF IT DOESNT STOP IT DOESNT MATTER.IF THE O2 SENSOR IS BAD THAT WILL THROW OFF THE WHOLE EMMISSIONS SYSTEM.WHICH CAN CLOG YOU INJECTORS,RUIN YOUR PLUGS,CAUSE YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ECT.YOUR COMPUTER KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM & THE CAR WONT RUN WELL UNTIL ITS FIXED.STEP 1- BRAKES,02 SENSOR,TUNE UP,OIL CHANGE....WHATEVER ELSE YOU NEED.I KNOW IT STINKS.,JUST DO IT ONCE & DO IT RIGHT.

Check Engine Light - O2 Sensor - bank 1 running lean

you should have three oxygen sensors on your car, one for each bank of three cylinders; should be towards the Y pipe on each exhaust manifold. Additionally you should have one on the exhaust pipe before the cadilitic converter.
