Question about 2000 Dodge Stratus
The car runs while its cold, as soon as it warms up the tranny only drives on first gear for a few hundred feet and then it just idles. In order for me to get it back and going, the car has to cool down for it to continue rolling. This happened yesterday, after a 15 mile drive. I was approaching my destination and it just happened to stop on me.. the gears wouldn't turn. Seems like the tranny fluid might not be circulating, but i'm not sure. If anyone can please help me, i'd highly appreciate it. Any ideas help.. thanks a bunch guys.
The same thing happened to my 2000 dodge stratus about a month ago. Turned out my belt had broken sometime. Anyway, the car would crank and run until it got warm (10-15 miles) and then would not shift out of low gear. I got home and thought it was my alternator, but when I went to take it off to replace it I realized there was no belt. (The belt runs several key components that will not allow you to go far without.) So just to rule that out you might want to check to see if the belt is still in place.
