Normally there is a tag on a bolt of the rear cover that tells you the ration of the differential. You can also use the Vin number to find it also unlss the differential has been changed. Other wise you will have to jack it up and turn both wheels exually t the same time and count the rotation of the deive shaft to come up with a close value for the gear ratio. Good Luck, RAC

How to change the front differential on my 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4 wheel drive.

Unless you are a seasoned mechanic with a lot of tools and a lift, take it to the shop. This swap is like a caesarian section on your truck. All kinds of things have to come loose, like axle shafts and crossmembers and hubs and such. Not something to learn how to do.

How to change parking brakes on 2003 dodge ram

  • 1 Determine which type of emergency brakes your Dodge Ram will need. Emergency brakes typically function by activating the regular braking system on the driving wheels. The emergency brakes for the Dodge Ram have used rear disc brakes since 2001.
  • 2 Release the parking brake pedal completely and raise your vehicle. Remove the tire and wheel with a socket wrench and disconnect the brake caliper from the caliper adapter. Slide the rotor from the axle shaft.
  • 3 Install the new brake rotor onto the axle shaft and complete the installation by reversing the removal steps.
  • 4 Tighten the wheel mounting nuts in the proper sequence with a torque wrench until the nuts are torqued to 47.5 foot/pounds Repeat the tightening sequence to torque the nuts to 95 foot/pounds.
  • 5 Apply and release the park brake pedal to seat and adjust the parking brake cables. Road test the vehicle to ensure the vehicle's brake system is functioning.
  • 6 Place tool C-3919 or the equivalent over the park brake shoes and use the star wheel adjuster to lower the park brake shoes until the lining just touches the jaws on the tool.

Hello.... I hear some big noise in the rear axle (differential);so i have to change it,but only found the rear axle of a L300 petrol one, when mine is a diesel. So, are rear axles Mitsubishi L 300 gasoline...

While I am uncertain, sadly no diesel here in the USA (danged EPA) I would expectthe diesel rear axel to have a different ratio from the gasoline, as the diesels run slower. You should be able to manually turn the yoke on the rear-end and count the revolutions for the axel to make one full revolution. With this you will be able to determine the rear-eand gear ratios.

    Best of luck!

Determine rear axle type (example 4:11)

the build sheet codes are affixed inside the glove box
It will have the letter G with two numbers after it as like G80. Some may have two letters and one number but unlikely so
The G code will determine the ratio of yours without ripping off the rear cover to count the teeth and divide what you have

Where do I find the axle ratio spec listed on this vehicle? I looked under the hood and door panel was not able to find this particular spec. I'm investigating towing for my vehicle

There will be number codes on the axle itself, take those numbers to your local dodge dealer and they can tell you what rear axle ratio you have.
