We had an 84 Jag-wire that did that. Finally gave it away to somebody in Hollywood a PA in the industry, well a couple notches above they were a set-dresser..any how, we think thew problem was the computer that ran the injectors. I guess the boards would heat up and it would simply **** out, dead on the side of the road. After an hour it would start and run fine. Chris in big bEar

Put a fuel pressure gauge on the test port. Its possible you have a bad pressure regulator.

Do a Vacuum test. Spray water on the seams of the engine with an old spray bottle and see if you can find an air leak. The rpm will change when the water is drawn in.

At times fuel pump starts up & puts out 10 pounds pressure (fuel) and turn key on again later then builds up more fuel pressure .then the vehicle starts 2001 lincoln continental

your pump should supply 6- 10 lbs of pressure,, If you have to turn the key again to build it up more, you have a bad pump, its not holding a constant pressure, which will make for hard starts , and even if bad enough stalling of the vehicle

My 2001 Lincoln Continental has been sitting for over two years, It did start for about a minute but it wont start again. what can I do

BATTERY DEAD MORE LIKELY.CAR BEEN SITTING FOR 2 YEARS GAS IN FUEL TANK WEAK FULL OF WATER, YOU NEED TO REMOVE DRAIN OUT OLD FUEL IN THE FUEL TANK. YOU NEED ADD NEW FUEL IN FUEL TANK,CHANGE FUEL FILTER, IF CAR BEEN SITTING FOR TWO YEARS.I WOULD REMOVE SPARK PLUGS ONE AT A TIME REMOVE EACH SPARK PLUG SQUIRT FEW DROPS OF OIL INTO CYLINDER THEN REINSTALL SPARK PLUG, REASON I SAY TO DO THIS PROCEDURE IT HELP PISTON RINGS SEAL UP ENOUGH TO BUILD UP COMPRESSION SO YOU CAN START THE ENGINE WHERE IT BEEN SITTING TOO LONG.YOU NEED CHANGE ANTIFREEZE AND THERMOSTAT.REPLACE RADIATOR HOSES TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE,REPLACE AIR FILTER.

1993 Lincoln Continental V6 3.8L If the ignition coil is bad would the car start, run for awhile, then shut down and not restart until it sits for a while? It will turn over but not fire at...

The emissions problem Should Not cause a shut down, It sounds like the Ign module could still be the problem, (if something happened on instillation, as they are VERY fragile) or possibly the Crank Position Sensor, You should have a Scanner used on it to determine the exact problem or you could end up spending alot of money chasing the problem ? The Ign coil is NOT a common problem with the 3.8
