2006 ford explorer 4.0 v6 when vehicle is at stopping point and i accelerate to drive off engine makes a very loud noise and seems like it struggles to pick up speed coming out of 1st and 2nd with this loud noise coming from under the hood. it does not do this all the time (seems more of a occurrence in the afternoon than mornings)1 transmission pro told me nothing is wrong. am i crazy? help?

sounds like a large vacuum hose was knocked off the engine when they pulled the trans out, have that checked.

Sounds like a bad idler pulley,or belt tensioner. Most likely not water pump since the check engine light is not on. Altho it couold be the water pump and for some reason (bad sensor, burnt out light) the check engine isnt coming on. Either way it would be best to have it looked at.

Only thing that comes to mind with description is maybe heat shield on exhaust, getting loose. Wait until vehicle is cooled off and get under there & check any heat shields you see wrapped around or near exhaust, above it attached to floor of vehicle etc, and give them all a little shake or rap with rubber hammer or similar to see if any rattles are present.

thottle positioning sensor? if trans has overdrive could be a lock up piece, dont remember name of it. there is a lucas oil product that might help. if it is the overdrive.

First thing i would try...... ISOHEET, Red bottle..... allows water to be mixed into the fuel and be burnt out of the tank.
get a good qaulity fuel injection cleaner, if you can locate the brand MALCO, i found it quite succesful..... and go with a full tank of premium fuel such as ammoco or shell......do not use yellow bottle of heet
