Question about 2003 Toyota 4Runner

A loud thump is heard when pulling away from a curve, making a

Lane change or making a turn. It appears to be coming from the front of the car. I can almost say I feel it in the stearing wheel.

Hi there, this is a steering rack issue, possibly a bad CV boot or joint. The best way to be sure is to check the entire steering assembly for lose or torn CV joint boots. Once the boot becomes unstable, it will allow the joint to become stiff and the lubrication within the joint will dry up, producing this thump.

Please rate and god bless:)

More than likely you do feel it in the wheel. My best guess is that it is than rack and pinoin bushings. If you can reach the rack, when the car is cool, see if you can have someone turn the wheel back and forth while the car is sitting still. If you feel the rack move, that is your issue. the reason it would do it during acceleration is because of touque steer.

My 2000 subaru automatic legacy is making a loud thump noise coming from front of car, what could it be?

Front CV joints, especially if the thumping is worse when turning to the left or right.

I think it is the control arm they can make thumping and other strange noises coming from under there when you hit the brakes and let them off while your driving. What it does will range depending on how bad they are. The car may also pull to one side.

Loud noise in the front wheel

first, check your brake pads, the grinding starts when the pad is worn to the rivets that hold it, then the pad starts to crack and break away. once the pad is gone there will be play that allows whats left of the pad to move around.. causing the thump, there should also be some change under braking, like going from a thump to a grind

this could also be wheel bearings.. but my guess would be the pads, and if it got to that point.. i would bet that the rotor is shot as well

Growing noise in front end of Volvo s60

sounds like a wheel brg, if the noise lessens when you turn to the left while driving more than likely it is coming from the right side, but a brg makes more of a roaring noise.

My truck makes a loud thump from the front on the passenger side.

Most likely you have worn out suspension parts. A front shock could cause the problem because the rubber bushing holding it in place may have dried up and fell out. Upper and lower A-arms have rubber bushings as well.
Best to have the front suspension checked out before it gets worse.

98 Chevy Lumina has front end noise (rumble) from 10 mph and above. It gets increasingly louder as you accelerate. It does not change by coasting or applying the brakes. Also does it in reverse but not...

I may be a wheel bearing. Try shifting the weight of the car on the front tires by turning the wheelslightly while driving about 30 MPH. Don't turn enough to change lanes, just enough to put the load on the outside bearing. It may quiet down in one direction. The failed bearing is generally the side that you turned to in order to make the noise go away. Say the noise goes away when you steer to the right, the failed bearing is usually the right one.

You can also check for play by jacking up the car and shaking the tire. There should be no play.
