I have a Saab 93 2002 Turbo 2lt with a low oil pressure warning alarm coming on. The oil level is correct and I have also replaced oil and filter. The warning light now comes on after 60km, but vanishes if I stop and turn off the engine and restart. Is this a sensor or computer problem or both. I am also wary of the computer reliability as its display is almost unreadable at times with many of the lights/pixels not working

The first thing to do is to have the oil pressure read using a mechanical gauge
that ensures that you know that the engine is running with the right oil pressure
you can test the ECM operation by using a substitute ECM that is a known good unit
run the fault codes to see in the oil pressure sensor is a problem
At this point , test the oil pressure as suggested then change the oil pressure sensor

SOURCE: Low Oil pressure light in idle at stop

Depending on the amount of miles, maintenance records, or how hard the car has been driven either by a previous owner, or by yourself. The engine's main crankshaft bearings or the connecting-rod bearings could be excessively worn.

Also, it could very well be a wiring problem to the sensor and/or computer causing the problem.

SOURCE: Oil Pressure Light Comes On after 10 min of Driving

You may not have put the right amount of oil in your car, your oil pressure sensor could be faulty, or you may have a leak.

By revving your engine, you're increasing the pressure and thus turning off the light and making the sensor think that it's at the correct pressure.

SOURCE: low oil pressure light comes on

does the oil pressure gauge show low oil pressure?is it low oil pressure light? or low oil light? 2 sensors on this vehicle.make sure you get a chevrolet oil sensor, aftermarket sensor do not do well, make sure your using 5w30 or 10w30 wieght oil,if you are putting out over 20 lbs at idle in gear,i see no problem, should go up to 40 or better on accel,if it is low oil pressure and the gauge conferms, possible engine wear

SOURCE: OIL PRESSUE LOW

At some point, your engine is registering low oil pressure and warning you the oil pressure is insufficient to lubricate the engine properly.

How does the engine know this? What causes it? Excellent questions. The engine 'knows' this because there is one or more sensors that read the oil pressure all the time. The sensors report to the computer which reports to you. They could be faulty. On the other hand, there could be times when oil pressure IS low. Your oil pump may be mal-functioning. Normally, I would expect the oil pump to either do its job properly or NOT do it properly but not act intermittently. It may warrant being checked by a professional. Another reason for this condition could be the oil itself, though you report you just had it changed. Presumably, whom ever did the change put in the proper oil grade, service and weight, recommended by GM.

Another thought, is this warning seen by you immediately after you start the car? If yes, it is normal for oil to take a second or two to build the proper pressure, particularly in cold weather. Where I am at, it is cold. Oil doesn't like to move when it is cold (like me) so it takes a bit of time to get up pressure (like me).

If this continues, you may want to have this problem looked at by a professional, as I said.

SOURCE: My service traction system warning light is on.

Most traction systems have sensors at each wheel. These detect wheel spin (can be a loose connection, broken wire, dirty sensor) The ABS won't work for the same reason but your brakes will work fine without ABS. (as long as brake fluid is full) The expansion bottle should have some coolant in it as well as the radiator. My experience is the bottle has a low level sensor that can get dirty ( If it was full) But you seem to be losing coolant? Is the lid on tight? Do you ever see coolant on the ground or in the engine bay? Sorry that's a mystery from here. Hopefully it is not disappearing in your engine. That would be a bad head gasket!

1984 New Yorker 2.2 Turbo oil pressure low on ilde

I think you have a suspect oil pressure sender unit. Replace it as they are cheap and need to be reliable and it will be cheaper than getting the oil pressure tested. If the light still stays on with the new sender you may have internal wear or a partial blockage. If the light stays on you need to have it urgently checked by a mechanic or you could risk serious engine damage.
