I have same problem today with 99k miles. Remove cap from shift lock(next to gear shift). Stick ink pen or small screwdriver in shift lock hole. Car should shift.
dont want to go to dealer. Im sure they will try to charge 1000.00

SOURCE: 2003 Nissan Murano dies after cranking the ignition

Cause could be a few things, are you in a damp climate? If so I would suggest getting a can of silicon spray and spray all of the wiring in the engine compartment. This happened to me with a Volvo and this solved my problem.

SOURCE: 2003 SL Nissan Murano 150,000 miles. After driving

most likely it is the transfer case leaking. known problem on the AWD models. they leak right down on the exhaust and causes the burning smell. have it checked out again.

SOURCE: 2005 nissan murano sl, with rattling sound when accelerating

I recently experienced the same symptom with my '05 Murano and it was not a fuel problem. The dealer listed the cause as dry axle splines and replaced both front drive shaft assy's. Note that this was done as warranty with no cost incurred by me.

Is synthetic oil ok for a 2003 Nissan Murano SL?

If that's what you want to use, sure.
Just match the viscosity to normal oil type.

At higher speed the car refuses to shift to the next gear. Cannot move faster. DTC code indicates "Transmission Ration Control Motor" What do I do?

Murano doesn't shift. It has a CVT trans. (continuesly variable transmission). no shifting involved. I think that you have an internal failure, which would mean replacement of the unit. No rebuild parts available from Nissan. Whole unit only.
