Question about 2004 Ford F350

2 Answers

My 1995 F350 Ford diesel sometimes does not want to crank.

After it cranks one time it will continue to crank the rest of the day. It does not matter if it is hot or cold outside. It use to help if I plugged it in and that did not help the other day. It only has 103,000 miles on it.

No, I mean my truck will crank right the rest of the day after the first initial crank.

Its either you ignition going bad or, more than likely, the bendix on your starter is hanging up so the starter will stay engaged

Ford F250 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel 1995 bucks and stalls periodically?

This is the same problem I had with my F350 Super Duty. I had taken mine to the shop and 700.00 dollars later still no fix but I found a smart mechanic that told me about the "crank shaft sensor" located in the front of the engine about half way up. Its only 2 bolts but a bit of a ****** to get to. I paid $40.00 for the part and it fixed my problem. Just a bit of a warning~~my trucked started out with the "bucking"and such then graduated to completely dieing on the freeway so be careful. This is actually a Ford re-call on some makes and models. Good Luck! Hope this helps!

Check glowplugs, if they aren't staying on long enough it will have extended crank. Might try cycling ingnition a couiple of times. May aeve some bad glowplugs, relay or possible glowplug wiring harness issue.

If the truck has good batteries and cranks well.--- There is a schrader valve on top of the fuel filter housing, (it looks like a tire stem valve) depress this valve while someone cranks the engine until you have fuel flowing out of this air bleeder valve. From that point, crank until it starts. Do not crank more than 30 Seconds, then let the starter motor rest. After you have this air out it usually startes in one or two tries.

When was the fuel filter last replaced? What precedded this no start condition? Was it running fine?

Agin, this truck must crank quickly in order to start

good luck
