I have a 94 cherokee coutry w/inline 6. When I turn the key i get nothing but the hum of the fuel pump and a little clicking under the hood. I have replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, alternator, fuel filter, and battery as well as had the starter tested. If I jump the starter the engine turns but wont start. To clarify the jeep does not start it turns but won't start and the only way I can get the engine to turn is to jump the starter[cross the starter w/screwdriver]. When I use the key I get nothing but a click. If I jump the starter I get the engine to turn but not start. Hope this helped clarify!

when you jump the starter is the key in the start position or run position i guess would be another name for it.

well the fact that it turns over when you boost it indicates your battery is dead or dying and needs to be replaced.... that may solve the starting problem as well

First place to look is in the wires from the battery to the starter and the battery to the ground... got corrosion? this can really choke off the flow of electricity to the vehicle... check both ends of the starter cable and the ground from battery to frame (or block or trans) any kind of green or white deposits indicate it's time for new ones... this can be tricky because the corrosion can be inside the insulation on the wires... if corrosion is bad enough even a jump won't start the vehicle as not enough voltage will reach the coil... if the wires are good then it's time to check the coil and it's wiring... if you aren't real savvy at testing components with a meter then replace the coil (assuming good wiring) and test for spark by holding coil wire about 1/4inch from the block or any good ground while turning engine... you should see a nice blue spark... hope this helps...;-)

My 94 Taurus 3.8 wont crank over the timing chain is fine, any suggestions

have fuel system checked...could be that fuel pump has failed....try this ...1.Turn key on but do not start just until you have power.listen for humming noise in the gas tank,it will only humm a few seconds so you may have to listen more than to have someone stand at the gas tank to listen also.....after trying ywo or three times and you here nothing then this would indicate fuel pump is not working....First check fuse to pump and relay to pump and if ok then replace fuel pump.....

I have a 1999 jeep cherokee that wont start. it's not getting fire to the distributor. what may be the problem?

Most likely the ignition coil assembly, in some cases the ignition module is faulty.

Where is the fuel filter on a 94 dodge dakota sport 6 cyl. 2 wheel drive

its possible its an inline filter which would run across the chassis, or in the tank mounted with the fuel pump.

I have a 94 Jeep Cherrokee Sport with a 4 liter inline 6. With fuel injection and manuel 5 speed. It starts and runs good at idle, but when you press on gas it spitts and spudders. Then eventally spudders...

Have you replaced the crank sensor? There isn't really any way to test it, however it isn't expensive and it is fairly easy to replace. Good luck.

I own a 1990 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer and for some reason it will not start. The fuel pump AND fuel filter are brand new but when you turn the car over it wont start. It tries to start the longer turn the key...

you have a fuel pump relay . Check to see if the fuel pump is humming when you turn key. check for proper ground for fuel pump. try spraying some carb cleaner into the intake then attempt a start. The engine will run for a few seconds, this will verify spark. corosion at the electrical connections is always a possibility. and lastly can you get the engine running by opening the throttle when starting?

get into car with windows up close doors so its quiet put key into ignition turn key to on position do not try and start it. when you turn the to on position listen you should hear a hum noise from the fuel tank that will be your fuel pump working the hum will only last about 2 to 5 seconds if you dont hear a hum could mean fuel pumps noy working.

My o1 saturn had a loose pos cable, after I tightened it carged the battery , now it cranks but wont start. the fuel gauge said it was empty added five gallons still nothing.

if the tank was completly emptyyou will need to turn the key on without cranking it several times befor trying to start so it can load the fuel lines and injectors.if that doesn't'll need to change the inline fuel filter because it probaly sucked allthe trash up at the bottom of your tank.make sure you hear a slight humming niose when turning the key the 1'st few times that tells you the fuel pump itself is working.hope this helps please rate this.thank's

My 94 jeep cherokee started ran for a minute or 2 and stopped

i would suggest checking to see if you are getting fuel by disconnecting the fuel line at the fuel rail and turn key if no fuel then its either fuel pump or fuel filter. if you get fuel then it would be the spark
