Question about 1999 Volvo V70

Engine light on

Volvo V70 2.5 Classic, 55000 miles on the clock, and had its 90000 miles service done. For some reason both the service light and the engine light are now on. The service light disappears after a short while, but the engine light doesn't. From what I can tell, all seems fine. No noises, leaks, loose exhausts, etc. I don't have one of these electrical gizmo's which tell me what code is, thus I have no idea. Please can someone advise me on what the common cause are? Or, how to reset the bugger. Regard, J

The service light has nothing to do with the engine light. It can't be trigged by the ECM.
The service light are only trigged by one of 3 counters (time since last service, engine hours or mileage).

The service light are easy to reset if you got a YM1999-2000 car.
1. Put the ignition on to pos.1 and press down the trip reset button on the instrument cluster and keep it depressed.
2. Put the ignition on to pos.2,
3. When the service light starts to flash then release the trip reset button. Now you have reset the service reminder lamp.

You need to read out the DTC's from ECM to be able to fix the check engine light.

That is the emission system malfunction warning light, if this came on right after the service there is a good chance they left something disconnected during the service. U can have the trouble code checked for free by Autozone or Kragen auto, but don't clear it until the shop that did the service looks at the code.

I have 86,000 miles on my 1993 240 Classic. What is the maintenance schedule and what should be done at this time?

Most car dealers recommend maintenance services at 30K, 60K, 90K and so on. The 30K service is mainly focused in inspection of the systems and replace of the fuel filter.
The 60K is expensive for cars with timing belt. The coolant, transmission oil and filter, and the brake fluid has to be changed. The air filter and spark plugs has to be replaced at this time too.
Most costly is the replacement of the timing belt. Volvo recommends for Volvo 240, changing the timing belt every 50,000 miles. Needless to say, they are pretty religious about this now.
The B20, B21, B23, and B230 engines are non-interference engines, meaning that the camshaft can be rotated independently of the crankshaft and no damage will result to the engine. That is, if the timing belt breaks, the valves will not hit the pistons; the engine will simply stop.
On the other hand, the B234 16-valve engines and any of the other Volvo multi valve engines are interference engines. Loss of the timing belt in these engines will result in severe or fatal engine damage.

Is the timing belt replacement link with the number of Km (90000) only or also with the car life. In other word my A4 19 TDI is 2003 and has got 55000 km when shall i replace the timing belt?

Even your car Audi A4 1.9 TDI has got 55000 km and the timing belt replacement is due at 90000 km, the car was made in 2003. I strongly recommend you to change now the timing belt in order to prevent any risk!

Does my Civic have a timing chain or a timing belt

It has a timing belt. Recommended to be replace every 105,000 miles, timing belt also run's your water pump good idea to also replace, your engine is also an INTERFERENCE ENGINE which will damage your cylinder head valve's if timing belt goes bad. Hope this was very helpful.

I was told to change the timing belt at 60000 to 62ooo is this true?

Depending on the engine size but yes it is true and more likely if you use non-genuine parts you will have to do that at 55000 miles or 90000 km. 60000 is a manufacturer/dealer service standard but I would not want to try the limits. Engine costs much more than a timing belt kit.
