Question about 2002 Chevrolet Malibu

1 Answer

Left turn signal, when on, causes lights to flash on dashboard

When the left turn signal is on, lights on the dashboard, as well as on the radio flash at the same rate as the turn signal. This also happens when the emergency flashers are on. There is no issue with the right turn signal.
Additionally, the brake lights will flash during this ocurrence, but very dimly on both ther left and right sides.

I replaced all bulbs on the left rear (2 of #3057 and 2 of #3156). It does not look like the front signal bulb is causing the problem (or could it).

I sprayed some rust inhibitor on the contacts for the bulbs, as well as a little vaseline. Still does not help.

One of the lights has a ground fault, likely the ground wire is broken or badly corroded. so it could be either light on the affected side, check both front and rear light sockets for a ground wire or strap.(usually a black or green wire)

1996 3500 sierra left signal causes all lights to flash

Well, you're dealing with a short. If the right turn signal only works the right side bulbs, you know you're issue must be in the switch. The only way left turn signal would light the right side, but the right signal would not light the left is if you added a diode, which I doubt is the case. So the switch itself is suspect. That or a wiring issue. If you just bought the truck, and this is an existing issue I'd suspect wiring. If it just started doing this I'd suspect the switch.

I would check to make sure someone didn't monkey with the wires and switch the left turn signal with the hazard lights or something (do your hazard lights happen to flash only the left turn signals?). If it has or had an aftermarket alarm you need to check their work and see what may be screwed up. Alarm systems often tap into the parking lights, which will look like all 4 turn signals, but are actually dimmer filaments. Flashing the parking lights would actually make your radio flash too, so I'm kind of leaning this way. Can't say for sure on limited information though.

How do i fix my problem, left indicator starts flashing when turn engine on but stalk will not stop left side or start the right side yet hazards work fine

One of the most important safety systems in the car is the Turn signal system. It can help prevent accidents by signalling to other drivers on the road when you need to change course and which way you'll be turning. It is also required by law to have a car dashboard turn signal indicator that works properly. You will need to wire the indicator in your dashboard to the proper lights and locations in the car. For a standard turn signal indicator in which the turn signal lights are the brake lights, please check this link on how you can do this:

Turn signal light on dashboard is solid but no flashing in rear or front.

where did you get the flasher from? autozone? try to get another one from a good parts supplier. if not, check the bulbs themselves. if they are supposed to be a dual filiment bulb, and only a single filiment bulb is in there, it may not flash. try using the turn signals with the parking lights on. does this make a difference?

The dash lights are not working and the left rear

check the main fuse box under the hood, also check that the left front turn signal to see if the bulb is blown, sometimes when only one bulb is working it can cause it to flash much quicker, also check all the wiring there could be a short circuit somewhere ,this can also cause this problem.....hope this helps.....cheers

Saturn 2002 VUE Turn Signal not working properly.

You need to check your left side turn/park lamp bulbs for correct part # & installation. If that checks out you deffinetely have a ground problem. When you have other lights blinking with you turn signals you have either a bulb incorrect or a bad/poor ground. If bulbs check out check your forward lamp harness ground.Hope this helps
