My son just bought the car and it runs lousy. At acceleration it is fuel starved and cuts out. It has great responce as long as it is not in motion. When the break is on and you step on the throtle it does not stall, let off the brake and move and it stalls.

The car rolls perfectly fine. If you push lightly on the accelerator there is no problem with moving and driving, but when you need extra power and push the accelerator down, the rpm drops to 1000 and surges occasionally until you let off and ease back on the throttle.

the empty slot is not the problem, what is the fuel pressure reading.

did it run before without this fuse or relay? there are many empty slots in all cars, so if it ran before then u have answered your own question.

The fuel pump is controlled by the EFI fuse. If your car can go thru the RPM band in park or neutral, you do not have a fuel-related problem. What you may have is a transmission problem, or, the brakes may be seized. Does the vehicle "roll easily" if you push it? If not, a brake inspection is needed.

Understood, now. I would recommend that you replace the timing belt.

Where's the fuel pump relay on a 2001 camry

The fuel pump relay is located under the fuse box cover in the engine compartment next to the battery running back to the air filter housing. The relay is identified on a label on the under side of the fuse box cover. It is toward the rear of the fuse box

Where is the fuel pump relay located

There are several "relay blocks" around the car. Info on what relays are in each one is printed inside the block cover, which is not a lot of help to start off with.

It appears to me that not all Camrys have that relay fitted, some instead only having a fuse. The 1MZ V6 has a big enough pump that it has a relay in block 5, under the hood on the left side looking forward.

There is not one on the 4-cyl just for the fuel pump. It is supplied by the EFI 15A fuse thru the EFI main relay and the circuit opening relay. See here p 177

On the V6 it is similar, see p 575

1995 toyota camery is there a fuse or relay for the fuel pump

The fuel pump doesn't have a single designated fuse, it gets electrical input voltage from several sources, the fuses tart you need to check are the 7.5A ignition fuse, the 15A EFI, the 15A starter. There are two relays that are involved, the circuit opening relay located behind the glove box and the EFI main relay located in the fuse box under the hood, the most common problem when there is no fuel pressure is the fuel pump, check all the fuses and substitute the two relays to see if it solves the problem.

Fuel pump relay

It is located above the glove box. It is the second relay from the left. If you pick up the chilton manual at your local auto parts store you will see the location and have the testing procedures for it.
