Question about 2004 Honda Accord

1 Answer

When I start my 2004 Honda Accord Coupe from resting overnight or while I'm at work, the radio requires a code each time.(This has been going on for 2 days, now.) I have no issue starting my car, and just recently had the 60,000 mile service conducted; so, I don't believe there is any issue with my battery. But is was my understanding that the only time the radio requested the code is if the connection with the battery has been broken or the battery is dead.

Do you think a "wire harness problem" would account for the inconsistancy in the occurance? Since I posted the problem I have noticed that sometimes the Navigation System starts as it should, while other times it has issues as described above, and the latest symptom is that on rainy days the program won't run at all. I can see power to the touch screen (it seems to be lit up) but no images appear whether it be radio, navigation, or trip computer....

Then it will be a wire harness problem.

Electrical problem, either in the wire harness or one of the connectors, or not properly seated fuse. Or Battery gone too far not giving enough voltage. (That one blocked by alarm system once)

Parking lamps and tail lamps blows fuse, dash lights don't work

First thing I would check is all frame grounds... like the negative battery cable and the grounding strap on the passenger side motor Mount to the wheel hub. In any electrical system, lights draw more current than anything (except the battery) when you turn them on... Check the grounds!

Radio code

When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect itagain, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft radio protection.
The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. Ifyou do not have this code you need to go to your Honda service centre andget them to enter this code for you.

My battery died and i soon i jump it back it ask me for a code in my radio. i have a 2004 accord coupe ex-l . how do i fix this problem?

Hopefully it's somewhere with the paper work for your car, should be 5 digits. If not the
dealer will have to get radio serial no. to obtain the code. Good luck.

With the key off, press the odometer reset button on the instrument panel. Hold the button down and turn the key to the "on" position without starting the car. The light should go out within 10-15 seconds.

Serial code on stereo

If you are needing the Radio Code because the radio is asking you for "Code" then for your year of car you should be able to take the serial number off of your registration or from the dash or drivers side b pillar sticker and a dealership can run the "VEHICLE" serial number and should be able to give you the radio code to get the radio to work again. No radio removal required.

My radio needs a code

"i have a 2004 honda accord my radio needs a code"

I had the same problem on my Honda Accord.
After several attempts to fix and many error messages I called a Honda house and the lady in service said "No problem". She then asked for the two codes listed by using the procedure described above (the "U" and "L" codes which both contain 4 digit numbers following the U or the L.
I gave her this and she "looked it up".
In a couple of minutes she returned with a 5 digit code which I immediately tried.
Of course it didn't work because it only has room for 4 numbers.
I went thru the battery disconnect reset (for 5 minutes) and while that was going on, I remembered that the code for the navigation system was located by another service tech once before.
All he did was pop the top off the fuse panel under the hood.
On the cover, along with the fuse identification was a white sticker with some numbers on it.
One of the typewritten numbers had a "N" written with a pen on it.
Another number was 4-digit and had a "R" in blue ink, like the N written on it.
I thought "If N stands for navigation, would R stand for radio?"
The rest is history.
When I plugged that number into the radio in the code entry mode - everything started working.
If I hadn't seen that tech open and retrieve the navigation code, I never would have related "N" and "R". The under hood fuse box is located on the driver's side up near the windshield.

Radio code

If you have tried a few times before NOT entering the right code or making error when entering code. This radio will lock you out, here is what you do disconnect battery cable for 60 seconds (positive cable) or disconnect radio fuse. Then re-enter code make sure that you are pressing firmly on number and make sure that you enter correctly.(POWER ON RADIO SHOULD BE IN ON POSITION WHEN DOING THIS) If this doesn't work then you will need to go to HOnda and fora fee they will be able to get code. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA.
