Removal of starter 92 Lincoln TCV

I have a 92 Lincoln TC. The starter has a three pattern.
How do you get to the 2nd and third bolts to remove them. Do you need a special tool? Do you have to rtemove something else to get to them? Help

I got the second bolt out with a short extension and a swivel socket, however it doesn't work for the third bolt. Using your method puts such an angle on the swivel socket that you can't turn it. I was wondering if I remove the air pump maybe I can go straight back with a long extension and make that work.

No special tools just a long extension and a swivel socket.

Good luck! Three 10mm bolt hold the starter in place. you can see two of them, but the third is on top, and will seriously test your patience and exorcise your vocabulary. I have been successful in removing the starter solenoid while the starteris still in the car, which allows you some clearance to remove the third bolt. Otherwise, the exact length combination of socket and extentions on a 1/4" drive ratchet is required over the top of the starter. Make sure you disconnect the battery before you begin.

I dont know what you need a bolt pattern for exactly, usually you just need to locate the starter. Disconnect all the wires from it, noting their locations, and unbolt the bolts and it should come right out.

How to remove starter from 96 Lincoln town car

If this is a 96 LINCOLN TownCar, then "techbuster" is way off. The 96 didn't have a solenoid on the fender. The starter is located under the passenger side of the engine just ahead of the transmission. It has three bolts holding it on. Remember to disconnect the battery first. The lower starter bolt can be accessed easily, but the other two could be quit difficult. They can be best removed with a very long extension inserted past the passenger side motor mount. The single ignition wire and the starter cable can be removed after the starter is tilted forward to remove it. The starter can then be tested as can the solenoid to determine which is the problem.

I need to replace a starter on a '92 Buick LeSabre. I'm a fairly novice mechanic and was wondering if this is a fairly simple job. Are there any other things in the way, or can I easily remove the stater?

unhook the battery

remove the two or three bolts holding the starter on. pay attention to lengths of the bolts so they are put back in the same holes

take the wires off the old starter one at a time and attach them to the new starter (so you are sure which connector they go on)

bolt on the new starter.

hook up the battery and you are done.

I put in new starter for 94 lincoln tc but its not working.

If starter was mounted properly it may be defective or may need to be shimmed. It can also mean that you have a bad flywheel but if this wasn't happening with old starter then you can rule that out. If old starter had shimms(small flat plates between starter and mounting surface, starter bolts go through them). If this is an after market starter then it can most definitely be defective. The fly wheel and the starter gear is meshing properly that's where the screech comes from gear grinding not engaging properly. Good luck Thanks for using FIX YA

hi,

take off the passenger side front tire and youll have to use a couple of socket extensions to get it, make sure to jack and block car correctly. when you remove the tire you should be able to see the top bolt with a droplight through the wheelwell
access is through the wheelwell I believe.
