Question about 2000 Lincoln Town Car
Battery light stays on and won't hold a charge. Trac light comes on - hands on dials on dash go crazy and car dies -
I was told that my problem is the alternator but, when an alternator was installed - the same problem happened again. Could I have gotten a bad alternator or is something else wrong?
I had the same exact problem on my 1995 lincoln after I had a stereo installed, and what I found was that the battery cable come from the battery on the positive side going to the (igniton relay)I'm not sure what its exactly called but it's mounted on the passenger fenderwell, well the nut was loose because the installer forgot to tighten it down before the car left the shop.So when I got in my car and went to start it, the connection was just strong enough to start but once the car was driving down the road and hitting bumps in the road causing it to become disconnected and the dash cluster started going crazy because the connection was making contact then coming off then make contact again and so on.......I hope this helps.
