Took van into shop, and he took out thermostat that fell apart, said he has never seen one like it, has tried several and was unable to find one that would work. is it possible that this motor was made in another country and uses a different one other than what is listed. Barbara

I live in Iowa. Shop owner says he contacted Chrysler mechanic at local dealership and he has never seen a thermostat like it. He even ordered one from the dealership and he wasn't able to install it.

Dealership sent the thermostat that should be the right one, but he wasn't able to install that one. It wouldn't go in.

You have the right part but the wrong mechanic! Get someone else to do the job!

I doubt it. There's all kinds of laws to prevent that sort of thing. What engine do you have? I'll give you the chrysler part number. Also, antifreeze can be very corrosive if not dilluted properly. I've seen it eat the propellar right of a water pump (the part that's inside the motor). I've seen it happen to more than a handful of thermostats too. It's nothing to be too concerned about. It happens.

Where do you live? This is one of the most common problems any shop in north america encounters. If this is where you are, find some kid over the age of 16 and chances are he'll be able to do the job for you....In other words, get away from this guy.

I have a 1997 plymouth voyager 3 speed 3.0L that I am trying to replace. What transmissions are compatible and is my van anti lock brakes?

nowadays it's the computer systems that tell us what is or isn't compatible. I have tried that several times in my career and computers are not compatible unless they are used with the equipment they are made for. Millions of trannys will fit but compatibility is a different ballgame. try to do yourself a favor, search high & low for the trans your looking for or you will be back at the shop every week w/ a new problem. I've seen it a million times. Good luck

On my 1999 gmc jimmy the lights on 4wd switch are out and 4wd wont engage. the switch is good(tried it in my 2001 Sonoma)and the 2 switches at transfer case were changed still nothing. Any clues?

On my 01 Yukon it was the switch in the dash. I took it apart abd found several bad soldier Joints. I found the same problem in the rear AC controller module. You can buy a new module or take yours apart

1993 E-150 which is leaking antifreeze. I have replaced the waterpump, waterpump gasket, the thermostat, the thermostat gasket and all hoses; however, the leak continues. It only leaks after the engine...

Hi, it could be your intake gaskets leaking,or a upper freeze plug you can go to your local auto parts store that has loaner tools and use a coolant pressure tester and put pressure on system do not put more pressure then your radaitor cap says . When you pressure test system it will show you where your leak is with out the van running. If i can help you any more just re post.

Driver side window fell into door, took apart and the plastic brackets broke off window. What do we need to buy to fix this? Do we have to buy the whole motor assembly or can we just buy the plastic...

It is nearly 10 years old. While it is apart get a new regulator from a parts store or ebay so you are not taking it back apart next year. Those connectors can be had at stores which sell paint and body supplies for cars, and at auto glass shops. I would pay the glass shop to remove and replace the regulator and put the door back together.

2005 grand caravan error code P0400 egr valve chk/ performance

I have the 2005 Town & Country TOURING . If my memeory serves me correct, I believe this was the same code that I got on time. The van didn't seem to drive any different but this is what I did and I haven't seen the light come on since.
first I went to the dealer ( you can get these parts from a auto parts house also) and bought the 3 gaskets total.for the the EGR solenoid vavle assembly where it bolts on to the engine ( that gasket was made from metal), NOTICE AN INDENTATION IN THE METAL GASKET WHEN YOU TAKE IT OFF,YOU WILL WANT TO PLACE THE NEW GASKET IN THE SAME DIRECTION. one gasket that goes between the EGR valve solenoid and the small stand pipe. and another gasket that goes between the stand pipe and where it connects to the plastic valve intake area cover on top of the engine.
I took the EGR solenoid off from the engine and took it apart (reall carefully) and cleaned it thouroughly with a spray carbuerator cleaner. I took mine "completely apart" after I did this I dont recommend to do this again, you can damage the coil inside if you're not cafefully. I suggest just cleaning the valve and plunger ports, etc....
When it was completely dry I reinstalled the EGR solenoid on the van making sure I used ALL NEW GASKETS. The van hasn't produced the engine light since. I hope this helps.
