Question about 1992 Oldsmobile 88

Car would stall out at a light and bucked when it finally started

The garage I went to said it was the Mass Air Flow Sensor, which they had replaced 1 year and 8 months before. They charged me $209 for the new sensor, plus 2 hours labor. I thought this price was a little high. They told me that it took them a while to find the Sensor in the car! Do you agree with this?

The check engine light would come on for a few moments when the car acted up, but when it went off, the car ran fine.

Is the Mass Air Flow Sensor hard to find in my 1992 olds?

my main question is how long does it take to replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor. my garage charged me for one hour labor to install this, plus one hour for the testing.

Does it take that long to replace it?

    Thank you!

The sensor itself cost about 130 bucks and the sensor is located on top of the motor. It shouldnt take that long to fix it has only 3 screws

My 1996 sentra is bucking and kicking while driving and dies when idling at lights. I have replaced air, fuel filters as well as wire and plugs. Check engine light does not come on. Fuel economy goes from...

idle control valve will need cleaning, also the mass air flow as well ( mas air flow cleaner only recommended) and the air temp sensor. may need cleaning or replacing, it could also be the spark plugs or leads. it could also need the egr cleaning as well, and sometimes it can be from were you get your fuel. if the garage you get your fuel from when its rain and you fill up and then have problems there could be water in the fuel as some garages don't know that ground water is getting into the tanks under ground.

I HAVE A 1998 VOLVO V70 THAT KEEPS STALLING. TWO DAYS THE CAR STALLED. WE HOOKED IT UP TO THE READER THE CODE WAS MAS MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR SO WHEN I DISCONNECTED IT IT FINALLY STARTED AND WOULD IDLE ONLY....

I had a similar problem that stalling when slowing down to stop and removing the foot from accelerator pedal. This had been ongoing for almost 6 months. I have taken it to the big service companies who spent hours changing lambda sensors etc....After doing a bit of investiagtion seen that other owners of same car had the throttle valve cleaned (apparently this is required every 30K). I took it to our local one man garage. He reported that he fiddled around with throttle valve using solvent cleaner and general poke around for approx 10 minutes. Since then the car has worked perfectly and has not stalled since. RECOMMEND - MUST CHECK THROTTLE VALVE CLEANED.

I have a 1995 ford taurus engine stalls when idling and smells of gas when accelerating it bucks. Changed fuel filter, could it be mass air flow sensor?

Start with smaller problems and check the fuel pressure regulator, the mass air flow sensor for these vehicles is pretty pricy. Is the check engine light on? If so, head to your nearest auto zone and have them check for trouble codes. If the check engine light isn't on, its not likely your mass air flow sensor

Stalling Toyota Camry 2004

P-0102 and P-0113 are mass air flow and intake air temp codes, the P-0136 is an Oxygen sensor code. Before you do anything, check for debris in the Mass Air Flow Sensor, it's small black box with electrical wiring connector that is screwed into the intake air tube, between the air box and the intake manifold. Undo the screws, remove the sensor, and, with a flashlight, and look down inside it for debeis, or broken wires inside it. If it's dirty, it could throw a P-0136...Comment back on what you find; hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa!
