I need a little more information on what is going on with your truck. If you want to know how to check the high pressure oil system the easiest way is with a scan tool but if you don't have access to one of them then you can also use a mannual gauge it needs to go up to 5000 PSI and you need to have the proper hoses and fittings before you try this procedure that oil pressure gets high enough to cut your finger really bad that they might have to remove it so be very carefull. If you are going to do this procedure I have to know if this is a 6.0L of a 7.3L they were both availible in that model year.

If this is a 2007 6.0L the injection control pressure sensor is in the passengers valve cover in the front. The sensor is a 3 pin sensor the wires that go to it are brown with a white tracer, dark blue with a light green tracer, and grey with a red tracer. This way you have the right sensor. Unplug the sensor and remove it then plug it back in to the harness so there isn't any fault codes set right away. Youo are going to trip a low oil pressure code while cranking but you will have to get that cleared when you are done. After you remove the sensor install you test fitting and the proper tubing where you removed the sensor. You will need a minimum of 500 PSI to pop of the injectors so your truck will start. Good luck and be carefull.

1992 F350-7.3 4wheel drive is hard to start after changing fuel filter and fuel pump. Why is it hard to start?

indicates fuel leak back and fuel pressure drop
check filter installation for seal not sitting properly, loose fuel line fitting , pump installed correctly (flow wise ), filter installed correctly (flow wise)
air getting in to fuel lines
the thing you are looking for is indicated by the initial hard start but when started runs ok ( good fuel to the engine eventually) and then by the fact that if the engine is allowed to sit for a long period the problem returns meaning that the fuel pressure is not being held
could even be a problem fuel pressure regulator allowing the fuel to bypass ( no pressure =hard starting) then gets enough pressure to run ok but allows that pressure to drain off over time

Sorry no injection pump on that vehicle. You have HEUI injectors located under the valve covers.

Vehicle rev's or accelerates fine when started for just a minute. Then it wont rev up. When you push on the gas it just struggles. Wont really go much above 1500-1700 rpm. idles ok. It is a gasonline...

that sounds like a fuel delivery problem. either the filter is clogged or the pump is not delivering the right pressure. i assume you have no check engine light. this would not set one but other problems like sensors would. being 11 yrs old i would not be surprised if the fuel pump was worn out. good luck

05 f350 will crank but wont start changed fuel filters bled fuel made sure im getting fuel on top of motor

Have you checked the HPOP? You need to hook a guage and check your high pressure pump to see if it is putting out pressure. These units are prone to failure becaue they have such close tolerances inside of the pumps. Diangosis of these tuck is not for the back yard guy so be careful if you do not know these units or what they do. This system puts out i believe 1200 psi. The system is called a heui. Hydraulic Electronic Unit Injection. It is the high pressure used to fire the injector. You may be getting fuel but if you have no "plunger" so to speak to fire the injector you will get nothing. Also check Your IPR for a broken wire or a short.

I have the exact same problem with my HZJ75, have had injectors and pump reconditioned, checked glow pluga and pre-heater timer, all ok...yet still a struggle to start?? PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP.

I thing you repaired old injection pump and injectors
Have you check the pressure from the pump can open the injectors?
I-loose the all injector main pipe from the injection pump only injectors side
2-try to crank the engine just start while engine moving if you see diesel pressure where you loose means injection pump looks good, try to fixed all the pipes while engine cranking if the engine refuse to star injectors needs to resit correct opening pressure.
3-check the injectors pressure follow instruction manual book.
4-Check is any leaks all connections.
5-Check engine compression.

good luck

SOUND LIKE THE ELECTRIC LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP CHECK FUSE TO SEE IF PUMP GETTING POWER. IF NOT REPLACE FUSE AND CHECK THE WIRE TO PUMP.IF PUMP IS GETTING POWER..REPLACE FUEL FILTER FIRST.IF IT DONT HELP.COULD BE THE ELECTRIC LOW PRESSURE PUMP. FAULTY. IT PUMPS DIESEL FUEL IT INTO INJECTION PUMP TO BE PRESSURIZED TIMED AND INJECT.SEE IF LOW PRESSURE PUMP DONT WORK THE WHOLE ENGINE WONT RUN.THE INJECTION PUMP NEED FUEL FROM LOW PRESSURE ELECTRIC PUMP TO RUN ENGINE.

Same thing happened to my F350 6.0 L 2005. The dealer replaced the high pressure fuel pump on the engine. It is currently working, but one month later the EGR cooler got a leak and it was replaced by the dealer. The internet states these are very common problems with the Ford Deisel. glow plug relay should be on the front are rear of intake.you have a mechanical low pressure pump on the passenger side low near the front. or a electric low pressure pump on the starter side. your truck should have the low pressure electric pump. to check fuel pressure you disconnect the out let line to do a out put test.on the electric low pressure pump.put out let line in a container.crank engine for 20 to 30 sec.you should have a good flow of fuel no dribbles.if dribble replace low pressure electric pump.the mechanical low pressure pump out put test you disconnect fuel line from the fuel filter inlet line.disconnect wire at fuel injection pump electric shut off solenoid .place the fuel line in a container. crank engine for 20 sec. fuel flow looks good.pump is good .if dribbles.replace mechanical low pressure pump.to check glow plug relay you need a .diesel repair ford manual to show you where to put a test light to check the relay.WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN WORKING ON DIESEL ENGINES.DONT DISCONNECT THE INJECTION PUMP LINES WHILE ENGINES IS RUNNING.THE FUEL PRESSURE IS SO HIGH SPRAY IN YOUR EYE CAN CAUSE BLINDNESS.GET IN SKIN OR SORE CAUSE BLOOD POISON. CAN ALSO CAUSE A FIRE BE VERY CAREFUL.

2003 F-250 powerstroke

Could be one of many things:

-Clogged fuel filter
-Leaking fuel line
-Bad fuel pump
-High or low oil level
-Overdue oil change (Will explain both these possible causes later)
-Bad high pressure oil pump, ICP sensor (injection control pressure sensor), ICR (injection control pressure regulator), or bad HEUI injectors, or oil lines
-Leak in the high pressure oil system (unlikely because you would have noticed this... This does not go undetected as the underside of your vehicle would be literally covered in oil and dripping in a very short period of time after the leak develops)
(Powerstroke engines use a HEUI fuel injection system, "Hydraulically actuated/electronically controlled unit injection", which relies on a high pressure hydraulic pump that uses engine crankcase oil and pumps it at high pressure (500 psi or so). This oil is sent to your fuel injectors to provide means for actuating them and pressurizing the fuel into the cylinders. High or low engine oil level, or old, diluted, additive depleted oil will cause this system to aerate the oil and result in poor fuel injection capabilities)

There might be other causes but this is the Powerstroke`s weak point... The HEUI system was first designed by Caterpillar, which makes a lot of excellent/bulletproof HEUI based engines, both in passenger vehicle and heavy trucks and equipment. The Powerstroke is an engine designed and made by International Truck and Engine, which cannot seem to make a HEUI engine, in any market, whether passenger, heavy truck, or equipment that does not suffer from fuel injection issues.
