3 speed fan barely changes speed

You are talking about your blower fan for the air conditioner and heater right? More information will be needed to solve the problem.

When you say it barely changes speeds, does that mean it doesnt speed up, or doesnt slow down? By that I mean, is it "stuck" on low, or high?

Most blower fans run at different speeds through the use of a multi-stage resistor built into the fan switch circuit. Low speed is a high value resistor, medium speed is a low value one, and high speed is the fan running without any resistance.

If your fan is running on high and doesnt seem to want to run on lower speeds, the resistor pack may be failing. If the fan is running on low speed only, it may be that the fan itself is beginning to fail, or that the lubricant in it has gotten gummy.

Heater motor barely works on high. wont work on low or med. settings

blower is not running full speed? on high?
the blower has this resistor block on many cars,
that fail, easy. (burn up) but not ever on high. (bypassed then)
a big clue that. no?
is the blower slow or just dampers closed and cant feel it.
surly you know the sound of your blower on high, sound !
air flow is a whole other more complex matter.
also is battery rested voltage at 12.6v? if not you have discharged battery making fan weak ( power = volts times current. so....)

99 pontiac grand am warms up but wont blow air through vents

You would need to figure out if the blower motor is operating at peak efficiency - if it is running fast on the high setting. If it is, the problem could be a blend door under the dash, or something else blocking air flow. If its not running fast, it could be the motor or a wiring problem. The resistor only cuts down current for the lower speeds.

My blower for the air/heat will only run at a high speed; will not adjust.

Your blower motor resister pack has defaulted to the high, you will need a new resister pack

My blower motor runs on high speed only. New switch made no difference.

There is a resistor block that has a number of differently rated circuits that gives you your various speeds.High is a direct 12 volt feed. This block has to be replaced because the resistors have burned out over time.It can be found in the air box usually on the passenger side close to the blower fan.Go get a replacement so you know what to look for. Good luck
