Question about 2004 Mazda 6

Water pours into front passenger floor when it rains. Many times water fills the glove compartment too. Also, a key light flashes on dashboard, but nothing seems to be wrong.

This sounds like the seal of the door has come loose.

I imagine the water is coming in due to the loose fit, and the key on the dashboard is representing the loose fit.

Perhaps getting a jug of water and pouring it along the passenger door at all possible points of entry will help you pinpoint the problem.

For there you can go to your local auto shop or hardware shop and pick up a waterproof sealent that would be ok to use on your car.

I hope this helped

Nathan.

You should also check that the front windshield is sealed tight around the frame at times roost could have eaten away the metal under the Rubber seal this was the cause at one of my cars.

Water under dashboard passenger floor

If you have a sunroof, that may be your issue. I had a similiar problem when it would rain. After a good rain, water would pour from my front side pillars when making turns, which allowed me to see how water got on the floor.

SOLUTION:
1. Open sunroof, stand up so you can fully see sunroof tracks.
2. In the right/left front corners of the the sunroof tracks are small vent holes (locate them). All sunroofs have these holes in the event of minimal water leakage.
3. Take a 2-3 ft strand of solid wire approx 18ga, insert into vent holes to clear out any type of debris, or build-up. (the dealer wants to charge you $$$ to send your vehicle to another facility to do water test for leakage)
4. Last, take a decent sized squeezable cup filled with hot water (not too hot to hold cup), enough to slowly pour is into sunroof track/vent holes. This will ensure you actually pushed any debris down the vent tubing.
5. If you cleared any build-up from the vent holes, you should see water puddles on the ground, or just have someone watch for leakage near the back of the front wheel well.

Hope it works, I performed this same manuever on my wifes 2009 Jeep Patriot, and filled some corner gaps in the tracking with silicon ($2.89 small tube), when the dealer wanted $150 for leak diagnostics. "Really"

Good Luck

In my 2000 chevy Impala has a water leaks under dashboard onto passenger floor, only when it rains?

I had the same problem with a 1994 Taurus. Within the front fender was 10 years of pine needles and leaves blocking the drain backing the water up in and over the fire wall and into the front passenger seat floor.
I took a LONG pair of needle nose pliers threw the passenger side door, and was able to remove enough debree. After pulling out out about 5 fist full's of yuck, 1 gallon a water that was stuck some where poured out flushing out the drain. I did the same on the drivers side. After that I had no problems with floods. I hope this helps. If not check your back door weather stripping if you have one. I have heard water leaking behind the passengers seatbelt and onto the floor from under the seat. Got to love Florida's rain season(s)

Whenever it rain, water gets into the floor on the

A leaking windscreen, door seal or window seal. Run a garden hose over your car and use baby powder to pin point where the water is in running from.

I have water leaking on the passenger floor board when it rains and I can't find were it's coming from.

Check the seal around your interior air filter. The seal can come off at one corner and allow water to run down the firewall and into the passenger side.

Water leak on fwd and back passenger side after every rain storm

pull your carpet up near the leak area and look for muddy body seams. it is possible one of the factory body seams are leaking- possibly in the cowl(under wipers) area, especially if it leaks when the car is sitting. there will be dirt/mud around the seams that are leaking. also you can check door seals by running the car on HIGH DEFROST with all doors and windows closed. spray around with a 50/50 soapy water solution. obviously bubbles will form around your leak.

If your car has a sunroof, there are drains from the front corners of the sunroof, and they drain down the sides of the windshield pillars, and then empty out on the ground.

What I would do is open the surnroof, and pour water into the front corners, and then oobserve where the water drains out. If you have a difference in water drainage between the left and the right sides, I would think that you may have loose sunroof drain. They commonly come loose at the sunroof corners. This will allow the water to pass down the windshield pillar, and onto the floor.

Also, I would check the condensate drain tube for blockage. Pull back the carpet, under the glove box, and fins a black hose that pokes thru the firewall. Pull it out, and see if it is blocked internally. If this tube is clogged, water will build up in the heater box, as the black tube is the drain for the heater box.

One of the two above solutions will cure your problem. I see both quite often.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance.
