Question about 1992 Ford Bronco

1 Answer

92 Bronco Spits and sputters when at running temp.

The vehicle will start and will run OK untill you reach running temp. Then it will die and sounds like it is backfiring through the fuel system. Can't get any rpm out of it once this starts. I have replaced the Idel air control valve but did not help much.

97 expedition has intermitting no start. Thought it was fuel pump so replace it. It will start but as soon as touch gas it spits and sputters then dies When it does start it may run fine ,plz help.

Monitor the fuel pressure with a test gauge, if that is OK then try disconnecting the MAF sensor and see if it will run better (the computer goes into limp mode), if it does the MAF is likely defective. Don't replace any parts until a certified technician verifies the issue, you have wasted enough money and time already right?

What do these codes mean on a diagnostics check? c, ev, o, oh,e? what are these numbers for ISO9141 KWP2000 and why does it steady blink on monitor then say backfire problems?

you need to read the manual for the machine you are hooking to the vehicle .
These are errors not codes you need to understand how it works better.

It has the 5.4 and is throwing p0171 runs fine until it reaches operating temp.then it spits and sputters under acceleration.

The 5.4 is a Ford engine. Need to have a smart scanner connected to the OBDII to facilitate this analysis. The trick is to compare the two banks and see if the problem is common or only related to Bank 1. If it is common check for vacuum leaks. Fuel pressure and MAP. If not check fuel injectors spark coil O-2 sensor before catalytic converter. The comparison between banks help a lot.. I use a Bosch 1200 that allows me to graph two parameters and it has helped during warm-up to track fuel trim between Bank1 and Bank2.

Hope this helps?

My dodge dakota 4.7 starts without any problem and runs great for approximately one minute. It then starts floundering and will die. You can turn it off or wait for it to die, and restart it and it runs...

Sounds like you have a restricted fuel filter that is causing your vehicle to start sputtering because it can't meet the engine's demand for fuel and then dies when fuel is depleted. After your vehicle stops running, fuel starts seeping by and you can start it again with ease hot or cold and you get the same results moments later if this sounds right replace your fuel filter.
