Question about 1995 Pontiac Grand Am
95 grand am, 150,000. The car shudders at times on the highway. Not all the time, IT is doing it more now though. Now, if I break real hard, it will stall, but start right back up. When it shudders, I can release the gas peday, press it again, and it would be fine. (for a little while). The car shifts perfecly so I am hoping it is not the tranny. The plugs are autolites, and has white on them after I checked them. Are they too hot?. Please help, Thank you, Tom
I have one of these myself a 97 it's a great car.
The shuttering could be a few things here they are.
-improperly balanced wheels
-uneven tire wear
-torn front bushings
As for the stalling when you break unfortunately it sounds like it is the tranny. If you hold down the gas on the highway and the car jerks when shifting that's how you will know for sure if it is the tranny. But it can also be caused by the ICS motor. If it starts right back up and you have no problems at all after that unless you are breaking it is most likely the ICS motor.
