What does the top of the air filter cover look like?
I have a question about what is missing from my air filter cover there is a big square hole straight ahead standing in front of the car behind the battery. Is there a part missing, what is, and where can I find it.

I have a 2002 4.6L engine and it has a cover on it too. I believe I used a 1/4 inch drive extension to fit into the square hole. At the front of this cover you will find 2 slots that the cover hangs on with the top cover plug (with the square hole) providing the 3rd mounting point. You will need to slightly shift the cover forward after removing the top cover plug to clear the front mounting tabs.
When replacing the cover, you hang the cover on the front tabs first and then pivot the cover to align the mounting hole for the cover plug.
The air filter cover is the big plastic square box conected to a huge hose that goes to the intake. To remove the cover, snap out the steel clips with your fingrs or a screwdriver ( I think they are just 2 in the Caravan), and loose (but keep it on) the clamp around the big hose I mentioned. It might take some jerking because it gets stuck sometimes. There's an air flow sensor conected to the hose itself, so, if it's in the way or you risk breaking it, just unplug it. All the Dodge electrical connectors have a red safety pin that you need to slide first. Once you remove the filter cover, take the filter out and clean everything (like leaves) off the filter casing. Install the new filter (it goes just in one position), and reinstall the cover, hose and connector. Snap the clips back and don't forget to tighten the clamp. Make sure you don't force the cover to close if it does not look right, some cars use two slots that need to be put back first, and then the clips.
Hi, you can locate the air filter by facing the vehicle head-on, the filter housing will be located in the far left side of the engine compartment. It looks like a big rectangular box with one corner missing and a big hose leading out of it. You have to remove the cover from the air filter housing to have access to the air filter.
As you're facing the vehicle head-on, the filter housing will be located in the far left side of the engine compartment. It looks like a big rectangular box with one corner missing and a big hose leading out of it. Use the screwdriver to remove the four screws holding the cover to the filter housing in place. You're removing only the cover; don't try to remove, loosen or dismount the entire housing. Place the screws in your pocket or another secure place, outside the engine compartment. You're going to need them again. Remove the cover from the air filter housing and take out the old air filter. Place the new air filter in the housing, making sure it's oriented the same way the old one was.
right beside the engine (the engine is in the middle) in a black box usually over a wheel. The black box will have clips (3-4) that you need to unhook. lift the box apart (might have to use some strength) take the old filter out. its about an inch thick. clean out the bottom of the box out of some debris. install the new filter positioned like the old on. close the clips. if the clips connect then youve install it properly.
The air filter is a long rectangular shape and is located is the front section of the air intake cover. Dead center and right on top of your engine. It is square rather than round like most but still sits right on top of your carburator/fuel injector. 2 wing nuts release it.
WELL LOOK UNDER HOOD WHERE YOU SEE AIR DUCT TO THROTTLE.FOLLOW AIR DUCT TO A SQUARE PLASTIC BOX LOOKING THING IT HAS A COVER ON IT WITH SCREWS.YOUR AIR FILTER IS IN THAT PLASTIC BOX OR HOUSING.YOU CANT MISS IT.
Its located on the drivers side just behind the battery and in front of the strut tower, a black square box with a black round plastic tube going to it, remove the top cover and you will see the square air filter inside.
Under the engine in the front you will see an aluminum cover. There is a square hole that fits a 3/8 ratchet remove this first. The new filter comes with a drain adapter that snaps in the hole under the cover. This lets the oil in the housing drain. Then take a oil filter cup wrench or a big channel lock to twist of the larger portion. Then change the filter and o-ring and reinstall.Make sure the o-ring on the square drive cover is there also
