I went to AutoZone but their instructions are not correct. At least it shows another vehicle or something because the photo's don't match.
Has anyone done this because I don't want to mess things up? Thanks

- Thank you very much. - Are you sure about this? The only thing behind the felt cover is the cable plug (which I un-plugged to check if there is no bulb behind it (like the Autozone wrong photo) and a few 10mm screws. No cover whatwoever, no other way to get to the light bulb. Someone on another blog suggested I unscrew the 4x10 mm screws and push out towards the exterior. The stop cover comes off and I can change the light bulb. It is late but I'll take a photo tomorrow, or I'll check it again but I am pretty sure there is no cover (I am pretty good with fixing things) thus I am not a novice at things. Either way I do appreciate it. Perhaps the cover is for another model I have the 2002 Mitsubishi Galant 4 cilinder ES. Thank you very much Marcel
I had the same problem You just have to twist the socket counterclockwise and it comes out - then just pull out old bulb. replacement # 921. You shouldnt pull out any wires nor need to undo the screws
If you look in the trunk, on the tail light side there should be a cover that un screws with twist off bolts,(plastic looking bolts) undo them and you should be able to get to the tail lights. Turn the bulb holder and take the bad bulb out and put in the new one. Reverse the way you took it off and you are done.
