Need to replace my brake light bulb

I went to AutoZone but their instructions are not correct. At least it shows another vehicle or something because the photo's don't match.

Has anyone done this because I don't want to mess things up?
Thanks

Thank you very much. - Are you sure about this? The only thing behind the felt cover is the cable plug (which I un-plugged to check if there is no bulb behind it (like the Autozone wrong photo) and a few 10mm screws. No cover whatwoever, no other way to get to the light bulb. Someone on another blog suggested I unscrew the 4x10 mm screws and push out towards the exterior. The stop cover comes off and I can change the light bulb. It is late but I'll take a photo tomorrow, or I'll check it again but I am pretty sure there is no cover (I am pretty good with fixing things) thus I am not a novice at things. Either way I do appreciate it. Perhaps the cover is for another model I have the 2002 Mitsubishi Galant 4 cilinder ES.
    Thank you very much
    Marcel

I had the same problem You just have to twist the socket counterclockwise and it comes out - then just pull out old bulb. replacement # 921. You shouldnt pull out any wires nor need to undo the screws

If you look in the trunk, on the tail light side there should be a cover that un screws with twist off bolts,(plastic looking bolts) undo them and you should be able to get to the tail lights. Turn the bulb holder and take the bad bulb out and put in the new one. Reverse the way you took it off and you are done.

I need to find the correct wires to join from the loom to the trailer the diagram i have does not match the colours for instance there is no yellow how do i match the right ones up to the trailer

Use a voltmeter and see which wires in the loom show power when (1) tail lights are on, (2) brake lights are on, (3) each turn signal is on, and (4) which shows continuity with vehicle ground/earth. Match these up with the appropriate wires in the trailer harness.
If your brake lights and turn signals are the same bulb on the towing vehicle, you're all set. If they are different bulbs, you'll need an adapter to get both brake lights and turn signals to work on the trailer.

My tail lights went out but my brake lights and my turn signals still work ....what can it be

Bulbs need replaced, your brake lights and turn signals work off of half of the bulb, while your tail lights work off the other half. It is either your bulbs need replaced, or a fuse went bad, but it is definitely something simple.

Just bought 1988 pathfinder and am having some tail light issues. When headlights are off and I brake, the left brake light is the only one that works. When headlights are on, both rear running lights...

Hi, There are several possibilities that I can think of:
a) The incorrect bulbs were inserted into the sockets for the brake lights.
b) The correct bulbs were inserted incorrectly into the sockets for the brake lights.
and
c) Faulty wiring work was done to the vehicle, such as after an accident.
I was unable to get the bulb information on line. So here's is what you can do.
If you have the owner's manual it will specify which bulbs work correctly. If you
don't, go to a local auto parts house, such as Advance, Autozone, etc.
They will be able to recommend the correct bulbs you need.
I would check you existing bulbs and also, at the same time check to see if they are inserted
correctly.
Hope this helps,
Mark

Need fuse schematic

if the fuse was blown the stop lights on both sides would be inop, also if the stop light circuit were dead u would be unable to get the trans out of park, use a 12 volt test light and test the brake light switch at the top of the brake pedal, u can buy a test light from Autozone, kragen and others for about $5 US. If the system has power cjheck the bulb socket it may be defective, use the 12 volt test light while someone pushes the brake pedal. let me know what u find and i will give u further assistance as ness.
