My truck loses power

I have a 2001 chevy silverado 2500HD, when im driving and step on the gas, it doesnt speed up like it should, and when a road/highway starts going up hill my truck starts dropping speed even if im holding the gas all the way down, what could be the problem.

In most cases it is the fuel filter. I don't know when it was changed before, but it should be changed at least every 8-10 k miles. Make sure you change the air filter too.
