You need to disconnect the two heater hoses going into the heater core. These hoses will go from the thermostat housing or the water pump to the firewall of the vehicle. You can just disconnect the two hoses from the firewall connection and place a nipple in between the two hoses using good hose clamps to connect the two hoses. That is all you need to do to bypass the heater. Good luck.

use a short length of 15mm copper pipe and join the heater pipes together where ther connect to teh heater feed pipes in the engine compartment

It's a big job. Drain the coolant down, recover the freon in the ac system and disconnect the lines and heater hoses. Lower the steering column, remove the instrument panel assembly, remove the heater housing. Split the case halves on the housing and there you are. Usually around 500 to 700 dollars at a dealership.

Heater Core 1. Disconnect the battery ground cable 2. Drain the engine coolant. 3. Remove the instrumental panel. 4. If equipped with the 5.4L 4V engine, remove the junction block splash shield. 5. If equipped with the 5.4L 4V engine, remove the bolts and disconnect the cable ends from the starter relay. 6. If equipped with the 5.4L 4V engine, remove the junction block bracket. 7. Disconnect the heater core hose couplings. 8. Remove the retaining screw and remove the A/C plenum demister adapter. 9. Disconnect the vacuum line from the A/C plenum demister adapter. 10. Remove the heater core bracket. 11. Remove the 13 plenum chamber top retaining screws. 12. Remove the plenum chamber top. 13. Remove the blend door assembly from the case. 14. Remove the heater core. 15. The installation is the reverse of the removal.
The heater core should be encased in a box up inside the dash.The best way to find this is to locate the heater hoses that go through the fire wall(about 1 1/4 in diameter).This is a very tight job and you will spend most of you time laying on the floor taking out screws.Be careful not to loose any of the heater core casing screws or bolts and when refilling the coolant system fill the radiator directly,start the engine with the radiator cap off,the level will drop,fill the radiator the rest of the way and replace the cap,allow the engine to reach normal operating temp.(about 10 to 15 minutes)so that the themostat will open and then allow the engine to cool and recheck fluid level.

Yes it can be done. look at your engine on it there will be two heater hoses coming from the engine to the heater, disconnect those two heater hoses at engine, with heater hose and two hose clamps, get the hose and clamp first at auto parts, install one end and the other end of same hose, where you disconnected the heater hoses from the engine, you have just by-pass the heater, hope this was very helpful.

I bought a 99 tahoe four door 5.7 350. No heat. Previous owner bypassed heater core. Need to see how heater hoses attach.


Have you replaced the heater core? If not, most likely the reason the previous owner bypassed the heater core was because it leaked. I will be happy to send you photos of how the hoses attach but I will need your email address.

Check your coolant level make sure it's full. Make sure your thermostat works. Are the hose going to the heater core connected or bypassed. If bypassed you probably need to install new core. If connected try a coolant flush as there could be a clog

it sounds like your heater core is leaking. Check to see if your coolant level is low. A radiator pressure test will show a leak. coolant may be dripping down from the heater air box drain hose. Replacement of the heater core is expensive. you can bypass the heater core, to keep you on the road, by looping one of the heater hoses back to the engine....but you will have no heat. Can't find a bypass hose for a 1999 ford escort


If you want to bypass the heater core, easiest was is to remove both hoses from the heater core, get a hose connector and 2 hose clamps.

Other than that, you could buy a few feet of some heater hose at your local auto parts store, and go from the water pump to the thermostat housing (although this would bypass your temerature sensors, would probablly cause a check engine light, and may prevent your cooling fan from working properly).

I don't see any parts store anywhere offering a "single" bypass hose, nor have I heard of one for this vehicle. If you do need to bypass it, your solution is above.

its not a fuse if the blower motor works , you have a clogged or bad thermastat, bad water pump or your radiator heater core is clogged
