At how many miles should i change my timing belt? 2002 ford escort 2.0 liter

According to the 1997-2002 Ford Escort Manual the average replacement interval is every 60,000 Miles (96,000 Kilometers). I unfortunately procrastinated and my timing belt snapped at 109,000 Miles and I had to go to the junk yard for a new engine. I had to replace a whole engine for not replacing a $15.00 belt.

well i don't think i would try that just yet. i would say if your battery is good i would start by checking the starter first cheaper to do and you can have your starter tested at a local auto parts store.

Setting timing belt on 99 chevy metro

The best thing that you could do is to buy a Chilton's Manual for your car. You can buy them at any parts store and they don't coast much. This way you can have it for any other problems you might have later on. Putting a timing belt on is a step by step project, getting a book will tell you every thing you need to know.
