I have owned the car for 3 years, never locked it so that I could not start engine or roll up back windows. Its been 4 days since first locked out. 2 days ago I somehow sucessfully figured out how to get it to release the gas flap, by using the basic information provided in the mercedes owners manual and it actually started, but the rear windows remained open and nonfunctional. So again ,I fooled around with the information in the owners manual and again locked the gas flap and never fixed the window problem. PLEASE HELP!

I had a similar situation with my Ford Ranger. I got a new can of PB Blaster penatration oil, rolled down my window, sprayed directly down through the door and saturated the lock unit, then I inserted the attachable little hose into the lock unit itself (your key slot) on the outside of the door, and sprayed for 3-5 seconds. I repeated this for 3 consecutive days and I have not had another problem with it, that was a year and a half ago. The drawback...Yes it is messy so you may want to put a drop cloth or a sheet of cardboard under your door to soak up the excess, and your window will NOT be clear enough to see anything for a bit, so keep yourself some Glass Plus and lots of paper towels when you travel, everytime you roll it up and down is a new "view". Hope it helps.
I had the same issue. Disconnect the battery for 15-30min. This will allow the Integrated Power Module (IPM) or sometimes called the fuse panel, to reset. Many other web fixit sites reference this. Apparently, the parking light circut is controlled by a solid state breaker and not a fuse in the IPM,
Providing central locking works when you insert key in lock, try programming keys
Enter car make sure all doors/windows are shut
Switch ignition on and off, remove key
PRESS AND HOLD UNLOCK BUTTON ON KEY
Press lock button on key 3 times whithin 10 seconds and release unlock
Central locking will lock/unlock rapidly to confirm reset
If your key is the type with bmw logo in the middle battery replacement is not possible,as it charges as you drive
Unfortunately, there is a trick to replacing the battery.
1) Open the Driver side door.
2) Open the Bonnet and take the battery cover off.
3) Use your remote to lock and unlock the car (keeping the driver side door open)
4) Pull the Negative Lead from the battery first, followed by the Positive Lead.
5) Change or replace with charged battery.
6) Closed down Bonnet.
7) Your windows, sunroof, and key FOB will not work... so follow the next steps.
7a) Insert your key, with door closed into the exterior lock on driver's side.
7b) While turning the key to lock the door, hold down the "lock" button on your remote for 5 seconds while in "lick" position
7c) Your remote will reset, and you should be able to use your remote now
7d) While driving, roll each window down twice. On your third attempt, you should only have to touch the window button, and the window will have reset
you have just found this out.it is a standard feature of all vw/audi/seat/skoda cars
unlock/hold key over, the windows will go down
lock/hold key over the windows will go up
then unlock the car with the remote, car reset.
sit in car with engine on,switch off engine(do not open any door)driver can open/close any window(you can even put your hand into window frame and it will rollback, all on its(not for fun)
if windows rollback after you have used button to close them you may have sticky runners/rubbers.
this is not in the hand book, tell all your friends.....only a german car.....
inside the mechanical lock (The part that actualy holds the door shut when you close it) there is a switch that informs the control unit that the lock is either locked or unlocked.
These switches fail sometimes, when this happens the control unit is not aware that you have opened the door, and therefor will not wind the window down slightly.
This is also likely to be the cause of problem # 3 , door will not lock. I fthe faulty switch is not informing the control unit that the door is closed, the central locking will not try to lock the door (because it thinks the door is still open).
The switch is integral with the lock unit, and they are not easy things to replace either.
as for the wipers and engine fault, there could be a number of different possible faults here, would have to be looked at.
You must reset your remote control in order for the lock/unlock to work properly.
To reset remote you would: 1)Insert Key in Ignition Turn to Position 1(Don't Start the Engine) for about 5 seconds 2)Turn Key Off and HOLD the LOCK button on Remote while pressing the UNLOCK 3 TIMES 3)Release both lock and unlock buttons you are holding 4)All doors should automatically unlock
sequence for freelander lock unlock, to lock 1press = door lock ,
2press = door dead lock , to unlock 1 press = driver door unlock, 2
press = passenger doors unlock, also rear window can be operated from
fob to do so press and hold unlock button for 3 or more seconds and
rear window will roll down.neat feature.hope this helps
