The bolt broke off the air intake manifold on 2005 honda accord. There are 5 bolts. 3 going in and two that you tighten a nut to. The one with the nut broke and only the bolt is slightly sticking out but not enough to get a nut on. What do I do?

the long bolts go to the inside or in the holes closest to the center of motor and the short ones go to the outside of the intake or closest to the valve covers

SOURCE: Fill drill and tap aluminum manifold

Using a torch of any kind will be extremely difficult for filling a stub hole. Even trying to tig it would be quite a challenge. If you can get it clean enough," PC-7" or "All-Metal" filler putty will work. The metal MUST be totally grease & oil free. Use carbutator cleaner or some other good grease cutter and a small round brush. Pipe cleaners with stiff bristles work well. Use a pin or small pick to reach into the remaining threads to break up any solids. Work the filler into the threads and push a hard aluminum rod into the hole. The rod must be sliightly scored for the filler to grab on to it. Give it a full 24 hours to cure. Sand it flat, center punch, drill & tap. The new hole will be as good if not stronger than the origiinal. About 2 hours, not including the cure time.

2014 Chevy Spark intake manifold torque sequence and torque specs

The 2014 Chevy Spark intake manifold torque sequence and torque specs depend on the engine type. Here are the torque specs and sequence for each engine type:
1.0L Engine:
  • Step 1: Tighten the bolts to 44 inch-pounds (5 Nm).
  • Step 2: Tighten the bolts to 89 inch-pounds (10 Nm).
  • Step 3: Tighten the bolts to 18 lb-ft (25 Nm).
Torque sequence: 8 4 1 5 9 7 3 2 6 10
1.2L Engine:
  • Step 1: Tighten the bolts to 44 inch-pounds (5 Nm).
  • Step 2: Tighten the bolts to 89 inch-pounds (10 Nm).
  • Step 3: Tighten the bolts to 18 lb-ft (25 Nm).
Torque sequence: 8 4 1 5 9 7 3 2 6 10
It's important to follow the torque sequence and torque specs carefully to ensure that the intake manifold is properly secured and sealed. Over-tightening or under-tightening the bolts can cause leaks or damage to the engine.

What is the proper torke for lower intake bolts on 2005 equinox

First, without a picture to guide, orientation of the bolt torque pattern. Looking back toward the engine from the front; Forward refers to the bolt position toward the front of the car / aft is toward the cars rear:

1st bolt is forward, 3rd from the left
2nd is aft, 3rd from left
3rd is forward, 2nd from left
4th is aft, 2nd from left
5th is forward, 1st on the right
6th is aft, 1st on right
7th is forward, 1st on left
8th is aft, 1st on the left

The following is from the GM 2005 Chevy Equinox service manual;

Notice
Maximum gasket performance is achieved when using new fasteners, which contain a thread locking patch. If the fasteners are not replaced, a thread locking chemical must be applied to the fastener threads. Failure to replace the fasteners or use thread locking chemical MAY reduce gasket sealing capability.

Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners to avoid damage to fasteners and systems.

IMPORTANT: All lower intake manifold bolts need to be cleaned, free of any foreign material, and reused - only if new bolts are unavailable. Use GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent and apply to the old intake manifold bolt threads.

IMPORTANT: Manufacturer recommends the center bolts be fully torqued before the diagonal bolts to assure proper seal ability.

IMPORTANT: Lower intake manifold bolts in positions 6 and 7 should be torqued to specification using a crows foot type tool.

Install the lower intake manifold bolts.
a. Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) in sequence to 7 N-m (62 lb in) on the first pass.
b. Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts (5, 6, 7, 8) in sequence to 13 N-m (115 lb in) on the first pass.
c. Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) in sequence to 13 N-m (115 lb in) on the final pass.
d. Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts (5, 6, 7, 8) in sequence to 25 N-m (18 lb ft) on the final pass.

REMOVAL

1. Drain the coolant and disconnect the upper radiator hose.
2. Remove the breather hose (between the air cleaner and the head cover).
3. Remove the air-intake hose.
4. Remove the vacuum hose, fuel hose and coolant hose.
5. Remove the cables from the spark plugs. The cables should be removed by holding the boot portion.
6. Remove the ignition coil.
7. Remove the power steering oil pump and bracket.
8. Remove the intake manifold.
9. Remove the heat protector and exhaust manifold assembly.
10. Remove the coolant pump pulley and the crankshaft pulley.
11. Remove the timing belt cover.
12. Remove the timing belt tensioner pulley.

Repeat the procedure, re-tightening all cylinder head bolt to the specified torque. (torque spec is Cold Engine 105-115 Nm (76-83 ft lb) )
4. Install the timing belt tensioner pulley.
5. Install the timing belt on the camshaft sprocket, making sure that the tension side is tightened by turning the camshaft sprocket in reverse, all timing marks are in alignment.
6. Adjust the timing according to "Timing Belt"
7. Install the rocker cover and tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Tightening torque: Rocker cover belt:

2.5-3.5 Nm (25-35 kg.cm, 2-3 ft. lbs.)

8. Install the timing belt cover.
9. Install the new intake manifold gasket and the intake manifold. Tighten the nuts and bolts to the specified torque.
10. Install the new exhaust manifold gasket and the exhaust manifold. Tighten the exhaust manifold attaching nuts to the specified torque.
