You can't just swap out odometer or instrument cluster. You have to do a programmable module installation and then reset the PATS keys. The dealer can do this, or someone with access to a Ford scan tool.

If u can get the cluster, key tumbler and key and the pcm at a wrecking yard it will start. All 3 coponents work together.I got all three for $100 worked on first try.

The sensor is attached to the output shaft of the transmission and should not be affected by the work that you did. Are the ABS sensors ok?

Why doesn't my odometer and speedometer not work in my 2000 Ford Explorer and would this cause my check engine light to come on?

It is probably the gages gone bad or even the circuit bord malfunctioning, I'de get it looked at if you don't know how to do it yourself. The same thing happened to me I replaced them my self they are not to expensive.
Hope this helps!

Can't figure out how to clear the "oil change required" indicator on my 2003 windstar.

if your vehicle has a oil life meter and displays it on your odometer you can reset it with the odometer button by holding it in for 3 to 5 seconds. if not you have a oil reset button in the driver side fuse pannel.
