The absolute BIGGEST problem with these is merely cold solder joints on the circuit board. Take it apart and reflow the solder joints and you should be fixed for FREE!

Did that to mine and it was a simple process. Lots of gripes on this very issue on the internet.

It could be a junk switch or it could be bad contacts inside the transfer case motor.. Does the transfer case switch to the selected gears? Everytime? If so, you might try another switch. If it does the same, I would say the motor contacts are bad. Replace the motor if you want the lights, But I personally wouldn't do it until the motor quit switching gears. They're not cheap.

I have a 2002 Silverado Z71. When I purchased the vehicle the 4 wheel drive did not work. I took it to the shop and they said the Transfer Case Control Module was bad. I replaced it. Everything worked fine...

I would check to make sure the correct ECM is installed in this auto right away before adding anything else to this truck.Check it like the shop should have, this angers me so when i hear this stuff. Neither shop should have been paid for bandage solution. Then get back to me.

there is 2 things to look at. 1 is there is a electronic actuator on the transfer case and the other is there is a transfer case control module under the dash on the drivers side next to the steering colunm

When drivingtruck in 2 wheel drive the 4 wheel low light will flash and when slow truck down to a stop it will shift into 4 wheel low and will not go back to 2 wheel high

Sometimes the solenoids will stick on the axle neither in 2 or 4 wheel drive, if this problem started when you weren't shifting between two and four wheel drive it is probably the push button switch cluster on your dash going bad

if i am not mistaking these have the vacuum module on the front differential check it it is probably bad common problem on these trucks from 96 and up if it is the electronic type it could be one of three things the switch on the dash, motor on transfer case, or the electronic module for the 4 wheel drive.
