Question about 2004 Audi allroad

2004 Audi allroad V8 Check Engine Light ON: 65,000 miles.

My technician retrieved trouble codes 17831 B1 and 17819 B2. Secondary air injection lower limit exceeded. He cleared codes and checked for loose hoses on catalytic converter air injection system.

Check Engine light came on next day and stays on. Any ideas?

It can be your CO2 sensor. And another one that all ways makes the check engine light come on is your gas cap be for you turn your car on make sure your gas cap is on like 3 clicks then go clear the codes. If that doesn't help then good luck

P1416 Chevrolet Description
An Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump is used on this vehicle to lower tail pipe emissions on start-up. The PCM supplies a ground to the AIR pump relay, which energizes the AIR pump. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the HO2S voltages to diagnose the AIR system. During the AIR test the PCM activates the AIR pump during closed loop operation. When the AIR is activated, the PCM monitors the HO2S voltages and short term fuel trim values for both banks of the engine. If the AIR system is operating properly, the HO2S voltages should go low and the short term fuel trim should go high.

You should check the Secondary Air Injection System: Air Injection Pump, Air Injection Solenoid Valve, Air Hoses & Connections.

My check engine light came on my dash. Audi 2004 2.7 TT


the problem can be caused by vacuum leaks .. in some engines the vacuum hoses pass above the engine where they can get very hot .. they crack, split or just leak .. this causes several bad things to happen including the secondary air injection problem (vacuum operated valves) ... on at least some cars like the passatt there is a vacuum hose kit available that replaces all the critical hoses .. maybe audi has the same type repair kit ..

Those codes are associated with the Secondary Air Injection. I too had the same codes on my 2003 Discovery. From reading Land Rover forums online, I determined that it is likely the Secondary Air Injection Solenoid that has gone bad. It is a $20 part that you can buy on atlanticbritish.com and install yourself without any tools. The hardest part was getting the original solenoid off -- it is simply clipped on with a plastic arm that is built into the part.

Does your Secondary Air Injection come on at random times? Mine would also come on sometimes at stop lights even after the engine had already warmed up. That is another sign that you might have the same problem and need to replace the solenoid. Before I replaced the solenoid, I had turned off the check engine light and noticed it came back on immediately after the secondary air injection went off after starting the truck cold a few times. After replacing the solenoid, I have yet to see the check engine light return.

That's s failure of the secondary air pump. It'll have to be changed. It's an emissions component meant to help with cold start emissions. It won't cause engine running trouble but at inspection time you'll fail for smog. Change it before then and you'll be fine.

Have an engine code for a check engine light 1423 and 1411 for an Audi A6 Quatro 2001


P1411 - secondary air injection system flow too low Bank 2.
P1423 - secondary air injection system flow too low Bank 1.
Check vacuum hoses to combi valves ,
most common split air injection pump which is riveted with aluminum rivets,ck rivets if they coming out ,pump doesn't build enough pressure.
In this case take pump out and put bolts instead of rivets all around pump case.Repl. all rivets not only broken one.Bolts sold at HomeDepot , just find a needed size.

Code is - Secondary air injection system, bank 2 flow too low.

Check fuse for sec. air injection pump.
Check vacuum hoses
Check piping from pump to sec. air injection valve. (combi. valve)

I have an engine management light come on - tested - came up with a code PO410 - what is the next step?


P0410 is the error code for Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction
The secondary air injection pump pumps air into the exhaust to help heat the catalytic converter at cold start. This lowers the emissions at an otherwise high emission time.
A malfunction means that computer has registered either a pump failure (common on some models), fuse blown, or improper catalytic converter function.
Check your fuses. Whether you find a bad fuse or not have the codes reset. Some auto Zones can read and reset the codes. If the error comes back you may want to consider having the exhaust system checked.Problems with the catalytic converter\converters can have a large impact on your MPG.
