If the brake light circuit is used also as a turn indicator (by interrupting the brake light), the two circuits are related so you need to check relays for both circuits if the fuses for both are intact. There are normally multiple relays of the same type (they will have a part number on them) so you could try swapping relays to see if the turn signal/brake light functions are restored.

With the brake lights also out when only braking, I don't think it is the flasher relay but it is also a possibility; couldn't judge that without the electrical diagram.

1974camper special brake light wiring diagram

Stupid question but have you checked your fuses yet? Second, it could be your brake light switch behind the brake pedal. Next, try your hazards....does the rear blink? When you use your turn signal lever, do the front lights blink properly or at all?

Hi, I have a couple of questions.
1. were the signals working before you replaced the brake light bulbs, and did you use the recommended bulbs?
2. Do the brake lights work now?

The brakes and signals use the same filaments, so these things are tied together.

I have a1998 GMC Jimmy 4x4/ 4 door slt. The blinkers don't work on the front or back of the vehicle. No indication of the green arrows on the dash board our a relay tick either. Also my brake lights don't...

Try wiggling the turn signal switch and see if brake lights and or turn signals start working.Gm did have a recall on the multifunction switch on later models but it did affect earlier models as having the same problem. It's is possible that the multifunction switch is the cause of it all but is also possible that the flasher relay has gone bad but the relay wil only affect the turnsignal and hazrd flashers.

I have 2006 grand prix and the bright lights wont come on. I move the blinker lever forward and the low beams stay on but i get the blue bright light on the dash, checked fuses all seem to be okay

do you hear the click of the dimmer switch when you move the lever if you do then the steel rod that goes from the lever to the switch itself is working and the switch is moving from the low beam to high beam circuit.if the blue dash indicator is on them power is coming out of the switch to the dash to operate the light.its possible that the dimmer switch may need to be adjusted a little if you don`t hear the click but moves enough to put the dash light on but not enough to turn the high beams on,that is possibly why the low lights stay on.or you have a bad dimmer switch itself

Have a Chevy Corsica 1996. Blinkers not working right. When I step on brake the arrow on instrument panel for the right blinker lights up. When use left blinker, both flash like the flashers are on. ...

It sounds like a bad light socket. The brake light and the parking/running/regular part of the socket are shorting out. When you press on the brake petal it's shorting out on the turn signal and sending current to the indicator (arrow) on the dash.. When you use the blinker, it's shorting with the brake light and causing them both to flash...

Check the socket and get back to me with the result.

TURN SIGNAL, BRAKE & HAZARD LIGHTS

No Turn Signal Operation (blinker)The turn signal lights in your car are a basic electrical system that controls the front and rear blinker lights to alert the intended direction of the vehicle. We have listed some of the most common problems and repair troubleshooting tips below:
Troubleshooting Procedure
To start troubleshooting this problem:
  • Turn the key to the on position (do not start engine)
  • Inspect the system fuse located in the fuse panel and replace if needed. If you cannot find the location of the blinker fuse consult your owner's manual or an online repair manual
  • When a blinker flasher fails it can cause blinker lights to say on, not blink, or not go on at all. To test the blinker system flasher, remove the flasher unit and insert a jumper wire between the two terminals. If blinker stays on in both directions without blinking, replace the flasher. If you cannot find the location of the blinker flasher consult your owners manual or an online repair manual.
