Question about 2001 BMW 5 Series
When pulling up to junction/stopping in Drive revs die and car sometimes cuts out, if I put car into N when slowing revs remain normal. Anybody got any ideas what might be causing this? How do i fix it?
Hello jimandsuecla, you could potentially have a trans torque converter that is staying engaged. If the converter does not release, it would be similar to slowing down a manual transmission in first gear and not pushing in the clutch. You could also potentially have an idle valve that is sticking/binding and not responding enough to change in rpm and load. Does the car stall when the a/c is on and when the a/c is off? Have you had any shifting concerns. What is the current idle rpm reading while in gear with the a/c on or off?Any additional info will be helpful. Thanks
