Check the owners manual that info is listed in there under fluids or specs or something like that or just ask the dealer to look it up when you go to buy they have all that on there computers for the repair techs and people like yourself prob. 2 or 3 though

Hey Doug,
Sounds like its time for a coolant system flush and "tune-up" .. you will need to replace the thermostat, reverse flush the entire coolant system, check the hoses for wear (they wear out/deteriorate from the inside).... look for "bubbled" or rippled areas inside the hose..replace if you have any questions!!!
....and refill with antifreeze..

you should be ok after this....This should be done at least every two years or 60K-75K miles...

Yes it looks nasty you need to have your cooling system flushed this is something that I would recommend letting a shop handle for you they will put the right coolant in and it can be tricky to properly flush the whole system out less than 100 bucks outside a dealership

Dipping of rusty water

yep heater core in dash leaking, sound like heater core rusted out if you used straight water.you need to have radiator and engine block flushed because rusty water is in the entire coolant system, you need flush coolant system replace thermostat add 50/50 antifreeze and water mixture never run straight water because straight water in winter weather will cause water freeze up in cylinder block and crack cylinder block you need antifreeze mixture in coolant system to keep coolant from freezing.

I have a 2002 buick century custom. Apparently there is a problem with the antifreeze that was used in these vehicles. What do I need to do to repair the damage caused by this problem

You need to drain the old antifreeze and flush the entire cooling system with a commercial product such as Prestone Super Flush. After flushing according to the directions on the product you will want to fill the cooling sysstem with plain water and let it circulate through the system. Drain the system again and repeat the process until the water is clear of any antifreeze. Refill the system with the proper mixture of antifreeze. Make sure you use a quality antifreeze that is compatible with your make and model of car. The auto parts store personnel can help you select the right antifreeze. DO NOT refill it with Dexcool. That is the antifreeze that GM put in originally that is causing the problems. Dexcool not only forms a gummy sludge in the cooling system, it also attacks certain gasket materials and causes coolant to leak into the engine. Hopefully, this hasn't happened yet.

Can the green antifreeze be used in a 2002Volkswagon Passat instead of red fluid. 1.8 liter engine

I wouldn't attempt that. Stick with the fluid that the manufacturer recommends many problems can occur if you put the wrong coolant into the system.

How do I change my thermostat on my VW 1996 gti golf?

follow top radiator hose to motor, at motor that should be your thermostat housing, pull 2 bolts out holding it @ remove housing, thermostat is under, replace thermostat exactly as you removed it, you will need a new gasket also.

Totally rusted radiator ,what this eventually does to water pump ect.

If the radiator is rusty then the entire system is rusty. You need to drain and flush the cooling system, replace the thermostat, and install a fresh supply coolant. Use a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. If the radiator is really bad you may have to replace it.

My honda is over heatin why

CHECK COOLANT.IF COOLANT TOO LOW IT WILL CAUSE OVERHEATING.IF COOLANT LEVEL IS GOOD.YOUR THERMOSTAT IS STICKING CLOSED.IF ALL IS WELL.YOUR RADIATOR IS CLOGGED UP NEED FLUSHING.ENGINE BLOCK WATER PASSAGES IS STOPPED UP.LEAKING HEAD GASKET WILL CAUSE OVERHEATING. USE A SCANNER TO CHECK TO MAKE SURE COOLANT FAN IS WORKING.AND COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR IS WORKING.COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR IS WHAT CAUSES THE COOLANT FAN TO TURN ON AT 190 TO 200 DEGREES.IF COOLANT FAN NOT WORKING.HOT WIRE IT USING JUMPER WIRE TO BATTERY. IF FAN RUNS YOU HAVE A BAD FUSE OR RELAY.IF NOT FAN MOTOR IS FAULTY.REPLACE IT.ALSO CHECK WATER PUMP IF YOU SEE SIGNS OF ANTIFREEZE LEAKING AROUND WATER PUMP.REPLACE IT.ALSO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 50 % WATER AND 50 % ANTIFREEZE. IN COOLANT SYSTEM TOO MUCH WATER WILL CAUSE ENGINE TO OVER HEAT.ALL OF THOSE THINGS IS POSSIBLE CAUSES THAT WILL CAUSE YOUR CAR TO OVER HEAT.

1996 Pontiac Grand prix Coolant problem.

The car came with GM dexcool in it and was mixed with a noncompatable antifreeze. You need to flush to entire cooling system including the heater core. Any Certified shop can handle this job and recycle the used fluid. As for the Ck engine light only a scan can tell you if it is related or not.
