First you can take the triangle shaped plastic off from inside behind the mirror if you know what I mean .. and there are three nuts take them off and DONT drop them .. unplug the mirror and see if you have power from your switch coming out to the mirror or the heater with a tester ... this might save you alot of problems and its simple. You might be able to just unplug the mirror with out unbolting it from the door and test the wires from there. look it over .. thanks Jerry

I need to replace my driver side mirror on my 2004 chevy impala. Can you tell me how I must do this and where is a good place to find an inexpensive replacement? Thank you

This is a common need...(replacing an outside mirror due to damage:) You can locate how to remove the old one by finding the panel inside of your drivers door...usually a small pop off panel...inside you will need to pull out the rubber inslulation in order to see the 3 - 10mm bolt heads...all three bolt heads need to be removed...also unplug the electric connection that runs from the inside base of the mirror...your best bet to find a replacement...(including color) is a salvage yard...probably $25 to $35...You can contact most salvage yards to pull this mirror for you, but your best bet is to visit the salvage yard yourself...and dis-assemble one for yourself...not a lengthy repair...hope this helps...:)

Cracked drivers side heated signal mirror for 2004 Avalanche, should I just replace glass mirror?

Most heated mirrors on vehicles are made together. In other words, just replacing the mirror may or may not fix your problem. It would be more economical to purchase the entire assembly and replace it.

How to replace driver side mirror on a 2004 Chevy Impala

Inside drivers door, just opposite of mirror there is a triangular piece of trim with one screw holding it. Remove this and foam padding and you will see the retaining nuts holding the mirror on. Remove these and unplug wire harness. Installation is the opposite

You should be able to replace the glass, but I believe it is glued in place. You should be able to tell as you remove the old pieces. It is a special white glue.
I was able to get a great price for the whole mirror on ebay. even the ones with signals and heated.

Hope this helps

The driver side power mirror will not extend when control is activated. The passenger side works fine.

I had the same prob with my 2004 Silverado within the 1st year. The dealer showed me to gently put pressure against the mirror (towards the cab) as I pushed the button to extend the mirror. Must be a design flaw. Anyway, it works for me and has happened a number of times.
