You can buy a puller kit for the AC clutch for about $35.00 the bearing is about $25.00 you might be able to do it without removing it from the engine saving your freon. http://www.tooltopia.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=7741
Belt tensioners just unscrew. They are also inexpensive

Its not a trail blazer just a blazer and I sprayed it with belt ease problem solved.Exsept when cold it is still noisy but as it warmes it quiets.

how old is the belt? i would replace it if it has been on for 2 or more years, depending on mileage. also, check the tensioner. with the vehicle running, spray some brake cleaner on the belt. "some" not a whole can. does the noise go away? if so, replace the belt.

Hello Danny, when you replace a tensioner you normally replace the belt as well, i would check the ac unit clutch assy for faults for there might be faulty bearings at the clutch assy there should be no play or warble in this assy, check with the belt removed, to check belt tension you should be only able to twist the belt about and no more than half a turn with you hand at the location of the largest span between pulleys with the belt installed

Replacing a 2003 chevy trail blazer thermostat

if this is on a 5.3l the thermostat is on the lower hose. you will probably need to remove both belts, and possible the tensioner for the ac belt to get good access.

I HEAR A LOUD WHINNING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD

Yes there is a bearing in the AC clutch assembly, and the bearing can be changed with out swapping out for a whole new AC compressor unit or even taking the unit out.
The other thing to you may want to check is the Serpentine belt tensioner. The tensioner then to break apart and or when the clutch activate put's more pressure on the system and the idler pully bearing could alsy be the problem.
Spray some water on the fan belt whale the engine is running and see if the noise goes away and comes back as the water dry's. If the noise goes away then it's just a worn belt and need to be changed or you may want to do the quick fix and buy Fan belt dressing.
Good luck and hope this helps

Skeaky serpentine belt

are you positive the squeek is coming form the belt area?

the squeek can be from several other places, fan clutches can cause a high speed squeek, take the fan off and see if that cures it, the water pump front bearing can also be the culprit but that is hard to figure out without swapping in a new water pump, and lastly look at the AC compressor clutch, see if the squeek changes when you turn on and off the AC

hope this helps,
