Question about 2002 Saturn VUE
I took back to dealership where I bought, and they did a diagnostic. They said they couldnt find anything specific, it could be that I just filled it up with gas. I told them I did, and they told me they shut off the light, so now I should be good. After one day, it came back on. Now it is starting to rev funny when idling. Also when started the other day it was shaking really hard, I had left the air conditioner on, and when I turned it off it stopped shaking. My husband just pointed out too that the key comes out of the ignition when it is running, that isnt suppost to happen right?
I have the exact same problem it took awhile before I figured it out. This car requires the medium octane gasoline .The 87 octane gas causes the engine to run on the lean side and triggers the "service engine soon light".By putting in a higher octane gas (middle range 92 octane) the light won't come on.Or you can get your service mechanic to set a richer gas mix for your car, however you'll lose about 2-3 mpg .

Tips for a great answer:
When the service engine soon light (Also called the check engine light or engine management light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that Powertrain Control Module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls you may not feel any difference in the way the engine runs, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.
