Sounds like a transmission issue. If its an automatic, add some auto tranny fluid to the resevoir under the hood. If that doesnt fix the problem and your not experienced with transmissions, you should go see a transmission mechanic to check the gears inside the tranny.

Ssanyong Kryon auto, the gears jump to neutral between fourth and fifth then engage with a bump?

Not sure, but 5th may be a lock up torque converter rather than another "real" gear. If so, solenoid for this may be bad, or torque converter may be bad. Have you changed the trans fluid and filter?

Wh does 1st gear jump out on accelerator release ?

There are a few things to check. Engine and transmission mounts replace any broken or perished . 1st gear selector shaft has a indent ball and spring to locate the shaft when in gear, check the spring is not broken. The gear box bearings may be worn giving the drive shaft to much end play. also check gear shift linkage is not worn.

Check your fire(spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor button) and air filter, but you might also consider replacing the fuel filter.

Driver window won't go up

there are a few things that can cause this to happen. Since you do not say if you have electric, or manual windows, it makes it a little harder to diag. If you have manual windows, you could have a gear that is stripped (normally you can tell because the handle rotates freely with little resistance) or your window jumped off the track from a large bump or ware. For electric windows, there are a lot more problems that can acure. To start, the window switch could be bad/shorted out; window regulator needs replaced; the electric motor itself could be bad; a gear is stripped; or a number of other things. Since there are so many componants to the operation of a window, it is hard to know what is actually wrong with such a vegue discription.

I also had a Buick, and 1986 to be exact that had this same problem over time. It was actually a transmission problem that happened to mine. There was also some leaks in the exhaust that effected it to.

Have you experienced any steam or smoke coming from the front of your car? Some times the head gasket might be cracked as well.

Let us know how things go.
