Code po172

P0172: Bank 1 system too rich. Probable causes:
1. Fuel pressure. Pump, regulator, filter or lines
2. Vacuum leaks. Damaged hoses or improper routing
3. Restricted air filter or air intake
4. Faulty fuel injector

Trouble code PO172

Code 172 means the fuel mix is too rich on bank one. If you have a 6 cyl engine there is only one bank of cylinders. The problem could be the O2 sensor or a leaking injector among other things.

Code po172, po156

Have you had the O2 sensors checked ? Code 172 is for a rich signal from bank one sensor one and code 156 is for a problem with bank two sensor two which is after the catalytic converter.
One of the injectors could be flooding a cylinder, or you could have a faulty sensor.

04 chevy trailblazer code po172?

System running rich. Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a rich condition (too little oxygen in the exhaust). Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1.

Hope this helps

Had the same code with an Expedition. Try cleaning the MAF sensor with some carb cleaner. Here is more info on the code:

P0172 and P0128 Error Code 2003 Trailblazer 4WD

PO172 means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a rich condition (too little oxygen in the exhaust). I would replace the thermostat first. The computer could be injecting too much fuel because it thinks it never gets to operating temperature. That may keep the light off.
