Airbag light Toyota Rav4 Fun Cruiser. Please can you help! My above cer (registered 9.01.1995 has "SRS Airbag" on steering wheel, and failed Spanish ITV twice because it does not have an "airbag light" on dashboard. I have shown them the manual for the car which has NO details that the car should have an airbag light on the dashboard, but they are insisting I need to go to a Toyota dealership and get an official certificate to prove it - dealerships are being very unhelpful as car is so old. Could you please advise what I can do? Thank you VERY much.

SOURCE: BMW 745i airbag light. Told to replacing airbag clockspring

Hello , check the airbag contact sensor behing the grill assembley . They are located to the left and right of the grill almost to the headlight assemblies. Check the wires to them for corrosion and damage. Check the fuse as well. There should be an air bag testing wire or fuse in the fuse panel. DO NOT UNPLUG THE AIR BAG SENSORS OR HIT THEM !!

SOURCE: 2004 toyota land cruiser airbag light is on

You may have upset the sensor on the chassis rail which has set off the light,it can take a while to set off ,the damage is minimal and the sensor is slow to crack internally or fail, you can try to disconnect the battery for 1 hour or so but no guarantees on that but even so it can work ,if the light comes back on you may need to see a dealer ,check at the front of the rails under hood for damage of any kind

SOURCE: when the airbag light started flashing and decided

Its the clock spring under the the centre of the steering wheel. You may find that the horn is not working as well as the cruse control, the clockspring connects the air bag sensor to the airbag in the centre of your steering wheel, it keep the connection in contact as the steering wheel turns.
You could replace it yourself if you take the steering wheel off but remember to disconnect the battery first as fiddling with airbags could cause them to go off!!!!

SOURCE: MINI COOPER AIRBAG R50 AND R56

If you have a Mini that was buit pre 2006 i.e. a first gen Mini then your new steering wheel will not fit, you need to buy a 1st gen Mini 3 spoke steering wheel.

Akso, for issues regarding the airbag light DO NOT pay the dealer silly amounts of money to solve the problem. Please visit the following thread http://www.mini2.com/forum/first-generation-faults-fixes/130947-airbag-warning-light-petition-bmw-uk.html

The drivers side airbag light comes and stays on my 2006 Toyota Rav4 until the car is warm. What's wrong?

you need to get in touch with toyota they had a recall on your vehicle due to airbag.THE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY CONTAINS ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS TO THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG MODULE HOUSED IN A SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY, WHICH INCLUDES A FLEXIBLE FLAT CABLE (FFC). DUE TO THE SHAPE AND LOCATION OF THE FFC'S RETAINER, THE FFC COULD BECOME DAMAGED WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED.
Consequence: IF THE FFC IS DAMAGED, CONNECTIVITY TO THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MODULE COULD BE LOST AND THE AIR BAG DEACTIVATED. THE FAILURE OF THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG TO DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THAT TYPICALLY NECESSITATES DEPLOYMENT INCREASES THE RISK OF INJURY TO THE DRIVER.

Airbag light stays on

When the Airbag light (SRS waring) is on or blinks it means a fault has occurred in the system and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the Airbag system. The most common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection to the steering wheel mounted Airbag, this is due to a rotating ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is called the clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact that turns with the steering wheel while maintaining a mechanical connection to the airbag mounted on the steering wheel, to replace this part you must disarm the airbag system and remove the steering wheel, this requires a special steering wheel puller tool and that you disarm the Airbag system before you start the work, to do this disconnect the battery negative cable for 1/2 hour prior.
