Question about 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Brake/ABS brake issue on 2001 Sport Trac?

When applying the brakes, car is slowing down and when it goes to sotp, the brake pedal goes down a bit more and pulls the car to the right. Brakes are good, all ABS wheel sensors are working properly...Any suggestions...I am at a loss..

I was thinking that my be the case. Do you think that there may be a possible issue with the actual ABS computer? My scanner pulled no ABS codes.

Check for air in the system, Also check your brake calipers to make sure that the Pistons are not freezing or just locked up

If no ABS codes where pulled then no. That is such a safety issue that 99% of the time it will throw a code right away. This sounds and seems to be more as the caliper needs to be rebuilt or if you do not have the time replace it. At the same time to be safe go ahead and turn your rotor that way two things are fixed right off the bat

I like all the above had the same problem with the brake pedal going to the floor, i took it to the garage and they did a complete brake job to include calipers ect.. i drove it out of the shop and the problem was still there. i took it another garage and he said pull the ABS fuse out and try it. i did and the problem stopped the draw back is the ABS light stays on, which i dont care so long as the truck stops like it should.

There is never a test or reason to pump your brakes

Accomplishes absolutely nothing.

There is no pressure in a braking system at all,
until you SLOWLY apply the brake pedal.

Then less than 1" off movement in the master cyl,
will develop 600 to 1800 lbs at the wheels

Release the brake pedal, the system goes to zero,
IT DOES NOT HOLD ANY PRESSURE

To answer your question

You not suppost to press the pedal hard
The saying goes--you apply the brakes,
not force the pedal arm and pin into the
vacuum booster, as though you want to damage it

When your driving what happens ?
You have higher manifold vacuum and
thus your pedal is normal, why the VACUUM
brake booster

I have recently developed a loud "rattle" in the

if this only happens when you apply the brakes it most likely sounds to me like your rotor is warped and needs to be replaced... if you are going to be doing this make sure that you replace both sides and do the brake pads as well.. the brake system on a car is not something that one should cheap out on.

1993 ford mustang brake pedal goes down on its own and brakes

Check the vacuum brake booster and check valve maybe there is a problem there that is amplifying the vacuum inside the booster and applying the brakes. I hope this helps, let me know.

All of the bulbs for the brake lights are new all

Brake light switch, think it should be under the brake pedal. when brakes are applied, the pedal compresses the switch, which makes the brake lights come on.

i would check front and rear brakes if rears are drum brakes i would inspect springs and hardware making sure everthing is conected and in place also make sure they are adjusted properly in the front and if rear disc i would make sure to grease caliper slides these allow caliper to move and its important that all moving brake parts are free push caliper pistons in alittle to see if they are sized or not booster is ok and most of the time when master goes it will leak where it meets booster and you will have a low brake pedal or no brakes
