2002 Corolla o2 sensor location

After starter rebuild ,new bat,new wire to body ground and ok plugs/injectors have first moring start trouble. Just passed last emissions check which may lead to my hunch. Damp weather seems worse than cold but warm weather first moring starts are best. Get occasional check engine lights I do neg terminal resets to get this anoying light off dash which works. Can you point to what o2 sensor may be problem and show a schematic pointing its location.Do you have another guess. Can't locate the hidden body ground for starter relay which apears in behind headlight assembly. Can you confirm this black/white wire location. Left front fender was once caught and pulled slightly out so may be damaged so Ineed to inspect.-THANKS nanccinut

it is in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe just ahead of the catalytic converter, there is also a downstream sensor behind the cat converter. see picture of 1st sensor

SOURCE: 2001 toyota corolla check engine

Unfortunately I had the same exact problem on my 2001 Toyota Corolla. I also replaced both oxygen sensors with no success. I actually had to replace the catalytic converter. Worse I had to go thru the dealer . Midas told me they won't replace Corolla converters . At least the problem is solved.

any other factory option that uses more than 30 amps per hour
I do think you have a connection problem or a cable internally corroded
take jumper cables and connect to the starter and compare the ohm readings
the solenoid wire can be corroded as well causing a no start and no voltage reading too

not enough information so i will cover many possibilities:

new spark plugs would be a good place to start .. then replace the ignition wires, clean the coil insulator .. clean or replace the distributor cap .. when you replaced the O2 sensor that should have eliminated the "heater circuit" problem (the O2 sensor has a built in heater that gets it up to working temprature faster at warm up) .. .. if the wiring and connectors to the O2 sensor are ok then that fault code should go away .. multiple misfires will keep the trouble light on .. that could also be caused by a sticking or dirty injector or dirty throttle body.. you can use a good injector cleaner for that .also look for a cracked vacuum hose ... it would be good to know the present fault code since it should have changed once you installed the new O2 sensor .. there may be two O2 sensors (one later in the exhaust system) sounds like you got the right one but make sure may take some time for the computer to adjust to the new O2 sensor and for the injector cleaner to work .. make sure new plugs are gapped properly and use an "antiseize" compound on the threads .. that reduces the probability of the plugs sticking in their sockets .. on aluminum heads the plugs want to seize (or weld) in place after a long time. .. that makes them really hard to get out later .. just a tiny amount of antiseize compound on the theads helps a lot .. be careful not to overrtighten plugs in aluminum heads ..
if your engine is badly missing on one cylinder (you should easily detect that) then a sticking injector would be suspect .. there are some simple ways to get it working again if thats the case ..

It will not start unless you dump gas into throttle body.As soon as you stop with the gas it stops running. Injectors tested ok with noid light. It has a new IAC and a new map sensor. Timing is dead on....

You may have a defective fuel pump relay which is mounted near the center of the fire wall area. Also check for any securty lock out or problem. If all passes ok, then check the fuel pump for pressure at the fuel rail.

Car wont shift properly

sounds more like a vacume problem than a sensor, but the way I would start is go threw all the vacume lines you can. they are easy and very cheap to replace. check for any insignificant defect cracks warps distortions in the line. Anything. Then remove your air filter intake line to the throtle body. remove the throtlebody its only 4 bolts and usualy to sensors. The throtle body may just be dirty, clean it out inside and out. Then chek you aire intake sensor, sometimes its called an idle sensor, last check the throtle body sensor. Also if you still have your old mass airflow sensor clean it up with the proper mass air flow cleaner and return the new one. Because obviously it wasn't the problem.

Now is the time I tell you all about proper maintenace. Did you replace your air filter, when is the last time you changed your plugs and wires. I really like the bosch platinum 2 plugs. They burn a litle hot but not to hot, which means more burn and cleaner, less emissions. Hint hint to you that have to pass a emissions test every year.

You may want to go on utube and check out a product called Seafoam. I have had a lot of success with this product. It goes in your gass tank in your oil, and the third part goes in your vacume going into your injectors. It does clean a lot of **** out of your car. But I warn people that this is a at your own risk kind of thing. I know how to take my engine apart and fix it do you. Because I wont come to your house and rebuild your engine if you mess it up. Sorr for the rant but l have to give that litle disclaimer out.

After you have worked on all the things I have told you I believe you will have fixed your problem, if there are any problems or questions send me a message and let me know.

Motor not starting

Double check all of your ground wires from the battery to the engine and body. Also have the battery checked. Even if the starter was bad, the voltage while cranking should not drop down to 2 volts.
