Under your hood, on the firewall just above and too the left of your master cylinder is a black terminal that has two studs sticking out of it with about six or seven wires running to it, you may want to make sure that they are all intact. The fact a puff of white smoke came out of those vents is likely an indication of an electrical problem under the hood. This would also explain the starting situation, the instrument lights, etc. The symptoms you are describing say there is a short in your electrical system, more specifically your ignition. the reason the cd will still eject is because that function is run from the direct power source that provides your deck with memory for channels and cd tracks etc. Also, with that puff of white smoke, you probably lost your accessory fuse/ radio fuse. If it got hot enough to smoke because of the short, it definitely popped a 25-30 amp fuse. If the wiring under your hood is original, check to make sure you are not shorting out through the primary cable that goes from your positive battery terminal to the alternator. This cable goes across your intake manifold, thrrough a loop connected to your thermostat housing and then up to the back of the alternator. there maybe a bare spot in the wire cloe to that loop causing the whole mess.

It may be the park interlock switch. Try taking it out of park and putting back or try the neutral position if it starts you may have to replace switch. Hope this helps.

Remove the key from the ignition. Make sure the doors are closed, so the new bulb does not illuminate when you are installing it.

Make sure the dome lighting switch is turned to the "Off" position. Pry the plastic lens away from the dome light. Use a small, flat-head screwdriver.

Push back the side bulb clamp. Pull out the old dome lightbulb. Wipe the area with a paper towel if it is dirty.

Wrap the new bulb in a paper towel. Insert it into the dome lightbulb holder. Push it up gently to secure it.

Turn the switch to "On" to test the bulb. Reposition the cover and push up to lock the clips into place.

Today our suburban dies while sitting at a light, lost all power and with a little tlc started up. We brought her home right away. We just went to check on her and she wont unlock with the power remotes...

I think you are right. the battery is dead. make sure the battery cables / terminals are clean and tight. Charge or replace the battery. If the battery is over three years old you should probably replace it. Once you get it started again make sure your alternator is working. this is the part that charges the battery while the car is running. Usually if it isnt working you will get a battery light on in the dash. or if you have a volt meter your battery voltage should be at about 14.30 Volts while the car is running. also make sure your belt is in good shape check for cracks and shinny surface.

90 suburban wont start

Check your main fuse. Sounds like a short somewhere in your vehicle, but white smoke could be a few things like main fuse blowing. Computer popped. Engine blew.
