2004 K1500 Suburban Problems with A/C & Heater Controls

Occassionaly, either the fan wont blow, or the A/C stops/wont turn on. If I stop and restart the car, this typically resets the unit and it works fine for several weeks.

SOURCE: Heater\AC no air in front 05 suburban

ase mechanic:

Sounds like a problem with the front blower motor. there is a blower motor resistor for the front blower motor that controls the speed of the blower and tends to go bad or fry out the blower motor. thats the most likely scenerio since you stated the control head was lighting up and responded to button changes.

Replace! The repair cost is probably more than replacing it with a decent JVC, Pioneer or Clarion unit - and you can get a DVD player as well to keep the kids occupied ;-)

Is the blower running? Is coolant hot in the heater core when you set controls to hot? Do you have a picture of which setup you have?

My break light fuse keeps blowing in my 97 suburban any ideas why

Assuming it's a K1500, 15A STOP/HAZ fuse 1 in the instrument panel fuse block is the source of power. If the stop lamp switch checks OK, and the center high mount stop lamp is OK, the cruise control system gets input at this point and may be defective. Fuse 1 also feeds power through the turn/hazard switch to the stop filaments of the tail/stop/turn lamps and these presumably are OK

My heater/ac stopped blowing air on a 2004 chevy suburban

It's either a bad fan motor at the firewall, or it's a bad relay going to the fan or both. However, if you supply battery voltage to the fan motor and it turns, then there is a fuse blown or bad relay or bad wiring to and from.

My heater/ac stopped blowing in the front, back still works

The front A/C and heater have a separete blower motor, so the front one should be checked for operation with battery voltage to it to see if it turns. If it doesn't turn when battery voltage is applied, then the motor is bad and should be replaced. Also, check for fuses blown or a bad relay.

2004 impala..The heater blows cold air when at idle or when i stop at a stop sign. When I am driving the heater is blowing hot air. the antifreeze level is OK and the engine is at operating temp. Any...

A couple of things come to mind. One is the thermostat is hanging open. The other is the cooling fans are running when they shouldn't. With the car idling, open the hood and see if the fans are blowing. Do you have a temperature gauge in the dash? Should be reading about 200 degrees all the time. Maybe a little less at highway speeds but not below 190 degrees.
The other thing is the heater core may be plugged. Have you changed the anti-freeze and flushed the system recently? Added any StopLeak to the radiator?
Also... if the heater temp controls are activated by vacuum (I'm not sure on your model), you may have a leaky vac hose to the heater control panel.
Could be any of these and could something else. I tried to hit the obvious ones... :)

Good Luck.

2004 Chevy Suburban Temperature Control Issue

NO, PROBLEMS ARE NOT RELATED SEAT MODULE NEEDS TO BE PROGRAMMED AT CHEVY DEALER TO FIX ISSUE. IF YOU HAVE AN AUTOMATIC HVAC CONTROL UNIT WHEN YOU REPLACE THAT YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO HAVE THAT REPROGRAMMED WITH THE LATEST UPDATES. BUT THERE ARE ALSO A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE ACTUATORS THAT CONTROL THE MODE AND TEMP DOORS. THE ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM CORRECTLY IS WITH A GM SCAN TOOL. GOOD LUCK

this is because you have a bad switch which has gone bad and you need to replace it or either try to bypass it through another circuit.

the bvery first thing that i would check would be the fuse. from there i would check and make sure that the blower motor relay for back there is operative. From there it could be a wiring problem to a bad motor

Heater fan blowing intermittently or not at all

Most likely it does, if you can hit the motor and it will run. I can't say for sure but you might want to chk. to see if you got a heater blower motor resister. There located (if its got one) around the heater motor and it controls blower speeds, might be worth checking out.
