Swap your shockers see if it is then on the opposite side. I fyes replace your shockers if no rotate your leafspring as well but not before inspecting the rubber spacers. If they are squashed perished and or missing then replace with poly washers (do a search for this).

What two wires go to the back of the speedometer, in a 1975 triumph spitfire 1500?

Hi Brian:
Gotta love old Triumph cars and lucas wiring! Well, maybe love the car and hate the wiring.
I've got a '73 GT6 MkIII to restore when I decide to retire, and I did a GT-6 a few years back.
If I'm remembering correctly, the speedometer has a manual drive off the transmission so the only electrical wire to the speedometer would be for the light. Makes sense since there are separate lights for each gauge.

Where is the fuse located for a 1976 spit fire 1500 wiper motor

Firewall drivers side of engine compartment A weak point in a spit to say the least. Each of the legs on the fuse holder is a separate circuit. If you test the top leg it does not mean that the leg on the bottom is working. 1 fuse for two circuit will make you crazy if you do not know that detail.

79 spitfire stalls when hot

Could be a number of issues. Obvious ones are location of the fuel feed line to the carburetor. Make sure the line is away from the back of the cylinder head. Second one is that the gas cap rubber gasket is plugged. Pop the gas cap when the car dies and if you hear a rush of air, your cap is not venting. Try starting again. There can also be issues with your hose routing to the charcoal canisters on USA vehicles.

How do i wire a smiths tachometer in a triumph spitfire 1500

easy... remove the mechanical tach and fit the light from the old one to the new eletric tach. Next run a wire from the back of the tach connection that looks like a small pole and run that to your ignition coil - negative side. Also make sure the ground wire (black) is mounted to one of the install bracket posts that hold the tach in place behind the dash.

Hi, I have a Triumph Spitfire 1500. There is no gate between the forward gears and reverse. Can anyone help me identify the fault? Thanks John

Hi, do you know if it is a single rail or 3 rail box? The single rail has the gearlever coming out of the tail housing ( and the reverse spring below the lever on the l/h/side sometimes replaced by the reverse light switch) the 3 rail box has an extension housing holding the gear lever, bolted on with 4 studs to the gearbox. this has a detent on the gearbox top plate.
