I checked the oil level and I have oil, I just had a oil change at Jiffy Lube 2 weeks ago. I had to have the car towed home.

What is a dropped oil pickup tube? What does it cost to replace a oil pump?

Thank you daves944 this has helped alot!!!! I now know what to do. This is not a good time financially to have to do major repairs. I just paid off my car. You are GREAT!

I will change the oil filter and see if that is the problem. I hate jiffy lube, but is was convenient out here in Tooele.

You did the right thing by pulling over, do not drive the car without oil pressure. Is there oil in it?

Highly unlikely that you need a pump, but it is possible that the pick-up tube that extends down into the oil pan, from the pump, has become loose or broken and dropped off it's mount and into the oil pan. It is also possible that the screen on the pick-up tube has become covered in sludge build-up and is no longer allowing oil into the pump. The next course of action would be to remove the oil pan and have a look at the condition of the oil pump pick-up tube and go from there

The jiffy lube oil change makes me nervous, I hate coincidences. Change just the filter and see if there's any change, just wondering about sub-standard parts. It just seems odd, maybe they put a bad filter on, this could be the cause of your problem.

Just pulled this off the net, tells how to get at the filter:

The oil drain plug and oil filter are under the engine skid plate. You need to remove the trap door to see.

The skid plate door is located by the drivers side door, directly
midway underneath the vehicle. You will need a flat or Phillips-hear
srewdriver to open the trap door. Don't worry, the screws are
'loss-proof' and will not fall off the trap door plate. Once this has
been removed, the oil drain plug and oil filter are now visible and

Check the oil level. if the oil level is fine than you may have a failed oil pump, or a dropped oil pickup tube. i have seen this issue a few times. its not common but it does happen.

Whining humming noise under hood

If the engine is not reaching optimum operating temperature it will indeed give you a "check engine light",the code will lean you in that direction as well. The noise your hearing more than likely is coming from the "clutch fan",they are very common on the TrailBlazers to make noise and fail. The oil light... you certainly need to have the oil pressure checked with a mechanical gage.

A noise can come from anything that moves while the engine is running. What you really need to do is listen carefully from outside the vehicle with the hood open and try and get a better idea where the noise is coming from.
It sometimes helps to use a short piece of old garden hose as a directional listening end on your ear the other end as a probe. Wherever you hear the noise the loudest, is likely the problem or very close to it. If the noise is an internal knocking, likely it is a bearing problem that requires intensive work to correct. Hopefully that's not what you are hearing, Oil pressure good? Serpentine belt tight?

After speed of 40 mph or higher for a short period of time 2002 trailblazer loses speed. Have to pull over and idle or turn off and back on again. may go back to normal or may only go at most 30 mph for a...

Do this simple check:
Start with a cold engine and right after starting, go to the tailpipe and listen for a few seconds; you should be able to hear the individual firing of the cylinders.
Drive the Blazer in an area where you can pull safely from the road and again, listen to the tailpipe sounds.
If they sound choked or more like hissing, you may have a decayed catalytic converter.
When they disintegrate internally, broken pieces will fall and the converter can pass the exhaust again but the heat and pressure of exhaust flowing can cause the pieces to stick together and cause a restriction.
I've had two do this exact symptom over the years.
You can also hear the rattle of broken ceramic chunks if you pound the cat with your open hand when it is cold.

2005 ext trailblazer has a problem with the oil pressure gauge. the check presure light on the dash comes on that the pressure goes back to normal. get a ticking noise from engine when this happens?

Don't mess with a potential low oil pressure. Tow it, don't drive, to someone who can check out the oil system and make sure it's working right before you run the engine. If you run it even long enough to drive it to the service shop and it does have a problem, you can wreck the engine bearings. It may be nothing, but it's not worth the risk.
